Hey y'all! Just wanted to see who else is scheduled for NCLEX in July so we can maybe keep each other accountable to study goals, share study woes, good prep books, etc.
My date is July 11th, can't wait!!
I'm doing the NCSBN, Kaplan book, LaCharity, Lippincott and Mosby books, and reviewing ATI books from my school. From what I've read, I think I should get Saunders too... seems like the questions are good.
Taking mine on the 5th at 8:00 am, pls fill me in on the SATAs, I just feel like I will go blank when I sit for the exam, having a very hard time focusing to study, and what shud I do to study in these last 2 days, Have done a lot of questions, & just wanna read, how shud I utilize my last 2 days of studies and not get stressed and do what I am supposed to do............
what are slide shares? im curious. i have 2 wks left to study..2nd time taking it & craming in what ever i can. hard for me to study bc i have a 3 yr & its not easy for me to go to a library, book store or starbucks. where im at they are all far away & not easy to find a sitter. so anxious. any advice to help me pass so much appreciated. my toddler thanks you in advance. will be able to offer a better life for him & will give his mommy back to him too. mommies gotta study so i can't play or take him out as much...thank you & bless you for the info in advance.
Take it easy studentnursejc, am in a similar situation. I have a one yr old. God will see us through
July Test Takers, well I took mine July 2, and after crying all the way to the center and pretty much throughout the test and on the drive back home, I got the good pop up.......
The tears I was shedding throughout the test, were because I could not believe that I knew the answers, and it just seemed so easy that I thought I was being 'PUNKED'.......I just knew Ashton Kutcher was gonna pop out from the corner.
What I tried to do, was link different diseases and meds to people I know or we see in the media. I had approximately 9 medications, and 5 of them, my Mom is taking, that really tripped me out. My dear friend Mom is one step away from being on dialysis, I had approximately 8 questions on end stage renal failure and dialysis, Missy Elliot just revealed that she has Graves Disease, I had 10 questions on hyperthyroidism.........this is unreal.
Even though I kept tearing up, I was sitting at that computer smiling through my tears with repeated prayers. Yesterday was just surreal I had 9 medications, of which 2 I absolutely did not know, 9 SATA, 1 drop in order (clean catch specimen easy:)), 2 pictures, multiple P/D/A, Infection Control, Obstetrics, Child Health and Psych . In fact, I would say I had a little of everything, however I did not have any math problems.
I left knowing I passed, the tears were not that I was not confident, but the culmination of 6 months of reviewing all coming down to this moment.
So, July seems to be off to a good start, so lets keep it going. Good luck to all July test takers......I cant wait to read all of your success stories.

:yeah:
. I wish I will be able to say the same thing on the 7th. Please pray for me. am already so anxious, I dont know where to start but am believing that God will make a way. Once more am happy for u and congratulations again
Lummie, you will be fine, go slow, read the question, the answers and back to the questions pick an answer and review. It took me 2hrs 30mins to complete, I didnt want to make a silly error, like I would normally have done at home. I went through all the strategies in my head, to determine what the question was asking and then recall the priority for the scenario.
I know I will be reading your success story on the 7th............
All the best.........

Do you have any family or friends around? Maybe friends with kids your son's age that you can have a sort of play date with- where the other mom watches the kids a little, and the kids play so its easier, and you can study? How about any friends that you trust that can watch your son and then once your exam is over you can do something for them in return? Or any combination? I feel so bad, I know how hard it must be to have a child, and from what it sounds like, a single mom? I have 2 kids but I was fortunate to have a husband and an extended family to help me through school and while I studied for my exam. I don't know what I would have done without them. I'm not sure I would have made it.
Hi! I already read the kaplan book. I just wonder wht i cant apply these strategies when i am doun practice questions. Pls help!
Maybe its the Kaplan book?? I had the Kaplan book, too and everything made sense when I was reading through it. However, when it came time to do questions, I had a hard time remembering it all. My friend took the actual class and just sung it's praises. So perhaps the class helps a lot with remembering all the strategies, plus you have a lot more practice questions then you get with the book. That way, you get a lot of practice actually using the strategies and it starts to stick in your brain. Just my theory.

I think it depends on the instructor too. I took Kaplan class and it was a 3 hour/10 day class. The first half was taught by one of my college instructors.. and I didn't learn anything. lol. We just go through questions in class.. I was falling asleep. then the other half someone has to fill in. The instructor was from LA. She was awesome! She taught us mnemonics, strategies how to answer the questions. I think I learned more during the 3 days I had with her versus the other 5 days w/ the other instructor.
Anyways, the thing i like about Kaplan is the Qbank coz it gives you the "feel" of taking the exam in the computer. It also gives analysis of your weak areas. However, I was just currently reading Saunder's book and tried doing the practice questions in the book.. and found that it gives BETTER RATIONALES as to why the correct answer is the correct answer.
