JU (jacksonville university) ABSN 2012

Is anyone else out there applying for the 2012 Accelerated BSN at Jacksonville University?

I only had a 3.69 overall GPA. I don't think there is an average GPA. I've read on other forums of someone getting accepted with a 2.9.

My overall GPA was a 3.7, and I have not found any scholarships besides the JU one....I know there are specific scholarships given out by JU to nursing students but I believe they are only for original JU students not transfers which stinks. I am excited though!

I honestly don't think there is any way to get the tuition fully paid for without getting a loan. Look at the bright side, you'll be getting paid good money after graduation and the loan will be worth it. It's so hard to get into these programs and its worth it.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone accepted to the 2nd degree program lives in orange park or Fleming Island. Also, has anyone paid the $300 and started working on registering for classes?

I go to school at FSU right now but I sent the $300 deposit three days ago. I'm still waiting to hear back from FGCU because JU is going to be so expensive and I do not want to have to take out loans. Do any of you that were accepted know where you are planning on living yet? Everything is happening so fast!

I am local so housing is not an issue for me. I will say that for non local students who are new to the area, JU is not located in the best part of town. There are nice new apartments located right off of 9A that are about 15 minutes from the school. Just do a search for apartments near 9A on the southside of town. It would be near the St. Johns Town Center (fun upscale outdoors mall). The beaches are fun but the drive would be longer.

I just paid my deposit the other day and got my account set up. They said new students cant register for classes until April 16.

Is anyone looking for roommates? I went to Jacksonville this weekend and looked at about 15 really nice apartments. I am waiting for Stephanie Bloom to send an e-mail out about who is interested in living with another nursing student. Are any of you? Can't wait to meet everyone!

I used to live in Jax. There are some really great apartment complexes...you can basically spend as much or as little as you want. I lived in the Antlers and loved it. Then I bought a car and moved into an efficiency in Woodhollow apartments. I would recommend just getting the one bedroom though...Efficiency was def small! but i paid like $450 a month to live by myself. Plus it was 7 mins from the beach, and about a 10 min drive to 9A

I received my email from JU regarding creating your JU electronic account. I created my username and password but I cant seem to figure out the windows live portion. If anyone has done this and can help me I would appreciate.

I went to the windows live link and the email says to click on "sign in with a different windows live ID". I don't see this option and I'm not sure where to type in the windows live ID that JU gave me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think if you just sign in to My JU, you will see whether or not you have emails on the first page after you sign in. It's hard to explain but the best thing to do is call the IT department, they're really helpful.

hi everyone! So I just found out that I was also accepted to FGCU nursing program back home. I was wondering if any of you know anyone who has completed the ABSN. I just want to know if most people make it through and if they had the option to go to a regular BSN program if they would have done it after going through the ABSN at JU. Thank you for your help! I am stuck on where to go. Thank you!
