Journal Club

Published

Today at work, we had our first meeting of a Journal club. It was very informative, and really was interesting... it also had a great turnout... (lunch was provided by the facility, so it was not a real time killer either)

Do any of the facilities that you guys work in have a Journal Club?

If so, how do you like it? Do you think its worthwhile to do?

Please, let me know what you think...

Yes. We have a journal club too.

It's a great idea and really nice for everyone involved. The newer staff especially like it as it's an opportunity to discuss stuff away from the hecktic-ness of the bedside. The older staff catch up on what's new.

This is a paid meeting time, but the time is arranged away from our work hours 1-2x/mo and we meet in our unit's classroom.

We have to provide our own refreshments!!! :o

actually, not to toot my workplace's horn,

Management here seems to really be 'up and into' what's actually going on... Our DON is young and spirited, and she really seems to be a genuinely good person... (omg... yes, its me, saying something true and kind about my don.... amazing.... she really is a good person though)

So, they end up providing a meal to anything that would typically take up as much time as a meal period...:)

We're gonna be meeting about once a month, and I'm really psyched for the next meeting... I'm hoping its on a day I"m working, or, I might actually come in for an off day... scary...
