Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to start a thread for those who applied to the DNP program at Hopkins. I recently applied prior to the early Nov 1 deadline. I noticed from last years thread that some applicants mentioned they had interviews already (at this time). Has anyone applied and been interviewed yet? Best of luck to everyone.

I would hope there is a lot of funding. JHU is charging a substantial amount for tuition and grad school is already very expensive. I'm hoping we'll get more awards/grants/scholarships when we get our financial package. I log into SIS almost every day to check for any updates.

That's what I thought too. It's JHU...they are VERY well funded. I was told that any scholarships (merit only as they don't have need-based scholarships) would be awarded in the offer letter, not the financial aid package, except possibly the Areas of Expertise scholarship. Financial aid will most likely focus on loan offers. I don't think grad school has federal grants, even for the lowest EFC. I could be wrong?

Maybe false hopes, but I assumed since they are very rural nursing-focused, they would have more money for nurses already doing the work in critical access areas so they can bring that amazing education back to their areas. I never imagined I would have to finance my entire education - as much as med school but without the MD salary at the end to repay it,

Does anyone know how many Areas of Expertise scholarships there are? One for each area or one total? I'm sure all of us applied.

Has anyone received their FA package yet?

Nope! The whole FASFA situation is causing a hold up with FA packages /:

I have not gotten mine yet. I emailed someone at admissions and they are hoping to get those out sometime next week. If you applied to the areas of expertise scholarship they're hoping to get those decisions out sometime this week. I ended up committing to a local university because I can't stomach taking out that much money for an online program plus having to travel for several semesters and most likely having a harder time finding placements. Good luck to y'all!

Has anyone been notified of receiving the  area of expertise scholarship? I am highly doubtful of receiving it LOL but I guess ya never know  😂

I think they did and may still be in the process of notifying. There are 10 awards for that scholarship.

OMG congrats to you if ended up getting it 🙂

Totally understand! I still haven't made my decision...I really need to see what the FA package is before I can crunch numbers. I'm also going to be applying for the NHSC Scholarship but those decisions don't come out until after school has started, so I need to know if I can afford Hopkins if I don't get it.

Good luck to you! You were accepted at Hopkins, so you will make the best of whatever education you choose and do great things after you graduate.

I did. Thank you 🙏🏽 It opened the Hopkins door back up for me, but doesn't seal the deal. I need to do the math (plus 3 years living expenses) when I see the FA package.

In which area did you apply?

Community and global health!

I feel like I need a financial guru to advise me through this program. The loans for this program are heavy.

Fantastic! I hope they are still sending awards and you'll get it! My work crossed between CGH and Mental and Behavioral Health, so I wasn't sure which category to choose. At the last minute, I chose MBH because I was applying for PMHNP program.

And yes, I agree. There is going to be some serious number crunching when the FA packages are issued. I plan on doing some research about jobs I might take after graduation, looking at their salaries, and factoring that in as well. It might be worth it to look for companies that offer their own loan repayment plans (I know Indian Health Services does) and what that might look like. We might be be a top candidate once we graduate, so that could be an option too.

Hey! For those that got the scholarship was it through email or on sis?

My sis says some of FAFSA hasn't been received so IDK if that  impacts it or if I didn't get it.
