Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to start a thread for those who applied to the DNP program at Hopkins. I recently applied prior to the early Nov 1 deadline. I noticed from last years thread that some applicants mentioned they had interviews already (at this time). Has anyone applied and been interviewed yet? Best of luck to everyone.

Hi everyone! Anyone who has applied for the expertise scholarship- have you heard when we will hear if we got it?

Hey! I applied right before the deadline and still had not heard back yet!
I assume you'll know about it when the financial aid package is released. I had not been to the financial aid seminar that they hold every Friday so IDK what the update is. Last time I went I just heard there was a delay on FAFSA.

It's my understanding that scholarship info will be including in the financial aid package, which is supposed to come out today, but I wouldn't be surprised if it came out early next week either. If it does and you don't see any scholarship info, you can also attend the financial aid webinar for accepted students today (and every Fri) at 2pm EST and ask questions.  I also applied. Good luck!

Update: I was told last week that the scholarship committee was meeting yesterday and decisions may come out today, which was supposed to be when we received financial aid packages. When I called today I was told the FAFSA info was supposed to be updated in their system by end of March and now it is early-mid April.

Did anyone receive scholarships in your admission letters?

Darn I was really hoping the financial aid info would come through sooner since I have until next week Thursday to make a decision for a local university. It sounds like they definitely have their hands full with having to prep these packages later than usual.

I received a merit based scholarship with my offer letter but I have not heard back about the expertise scholarship.

I hear you. I have who has a deadline for Intent for today, but they don't have a deposit, so I sent in my Intent.

Congratulations! I did not, unfortunately, which surprised me. I usually do get scholarships at schools I've attended. I have a GPA of 3.96, work in rural health, do tons of community service and have done international humanitarian work. Do you mind me asking what you think set you apart for receiving a scholarship? Maybe there's something more I can do in this next year that will help boost my future scholarship potential.

Thanks!

The expertise scholarship winners will be awarded soon I believe. A little bummed not to get much financial support from JHU.

I honestly do not know what set me apart. I will say that the merit-based scholarship I was given is a lower amount given than the areas of expertise scholarship.

I hear there is not a lot of funding for DNP tracts. I also did not receive anything.

I would hope there is a lot of funding. JHU is charging a substantial amount for tuition and grad school is already very expensive. I'm hoping we'll get more awards/grants/scholarships when we get our financial package. I log into SIS almost every day to check for any updates.

Yeah I haven't put down my deposit it yet bc financially I don't feel secure about this program.

I'm with you. I can't justify financing close to $300k (with "we don't recommend you work" living expenses) in unsubsidized student loans. I live in a rural, underserved, critical access area. Our salaries are low now and low they will stay.

I thought about applying for the NHSC loan repayment programs, I thought that I read the award decisions aren't made until Fall? That'd be a bigger risk than I might be willing to take. Still waiting on financial aid packages, but I'm not super hopeful at this point. It's been a really big letdown, TBH.
