Greetings Everyone!
I know this is early to make a thread for the Fall 2011 Hopkins Applicants! But still, it is better to start getting ready than waiting at the last minute! I highly suggest everyone start getting your letters of recommendations, and just hide it until you are ready to apply. I will be applying and submitting my application around September 2010 as an early decision applicant for Fall 2011.
I have to finish up Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Developmental Psychology, and one more chemistry class this coming Summer 2010. During the Fall of 2010 and Spring 2011, I will be finishing up just general requirements like history, Microbiology, English Composition, Statistics, some foreign languages, and humanities (elective classes).
I will be applying for the BSN Traditional Program considering I do not have a degree, thus, I am not qualified to apply for the accelerated program. I'm really excited about this.
I will only be applying to UPenn and Johns Hopkins University for my BSN traditional program. If I do not get accepted, I will be attending my current university's school of nursing. I am already in the university's nursing program, but I don't start clinical preceptorship until 2 years from now.
I will graduate May 2013 regardless where I go. Either JHU or UPenn or stay at my current university.
If I will be accepted at either JHU or UPenn, then definitely I will be attending those schools! I love nursing research, and I want to learn more about research and providing quality care to our patients.
We will see how it will go. I have six months until I submit my application to both schools. Remember time is running fast.
Hope everyone are doing well on their pre-requisites! Good luck to all!
Feel free to post around so we can help each other for Fall 2011! I've read the thread for the JHU Fall 2010. I've noticed everyone in that thread got accepted, and some waitlisted! Its a good sign!
Have a wonderful day!

HI Lalap,
Thailand wow! My sister was a PC volunteer in Thailand a few years ago. She loved it and came back cooking all of this amazing food!! I was a Health and Environmental Educator working on AIDS awareness and various other health education projects at local schools and high schools. I also worked with local govt offices on some forest restoration projects among other things.. What about you?
I interviewed with Megan. She told me "sometime" in February and that we could receive the BSN and MSN decisions separately or together (there's a committee for BSN and a committee for MSN admissions). She also said we would get a letter in the mail, but last year they called everyone and they already called the ED guys this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if we got a phone call.
Hi! I just signed up in order to join in on this! I am applying to the BS-MSN program, regular admit, traditional program. I'm wanting to do the Women's health, nurse-midwifery concentration. I thought and thought and THOUGHT about applying, finally getting a complete application in on January 13th ! On Thursday, I got a call from the Director of Admissions herself! She left me a message that did NOT indicate what she wanted. I left a message Thursday evening, and then I called back bright and early on Friday, and spoke with Marie (receptionist??) who told me that the director was in meetings all day (admissions meetings??) and that she had let her know of my message, and would take another one to let her know that I had called again. I didn't get a returned call!
Freaking out a bit here. I've never had the director of admissions call me personally before. And then she didn't return my call! What could she want? What does this mean? Has anyone else spoken with her? Any info is welcomed!
Hi DiamondCoffee,
Since you submitted your application on the 13th of January and it was due by the 15th of November (for regular admission) my guess is that the director was probably calling to let you know that they are unable to process your application for Fall 2011 and suggesting that you reapply for the next round. I can't be 100% sure but interviews were already being conducted during that week of January so I can't imagine they could process an application that late past the deadline. I'm not sure they even accept applications that are even a couple days late. I'm sorry if this is the case and wish you the best of luck!

Hi Lolita123,
Wow, Ecuador, what was your project? I was in Thailand from 2008-2010.
I feel better that I'm not the only one who had trouble with that essay. I think that I am finally almost finished thank goodness! I did an essay format, but since it's a bit disjointed (ugh), going the individual answer route was probably a good idea. Since the prompt only said to "address" the questions, I'm sure you're fine :)
