Johns Hopkins University BSN/MSN Fall 2011

Published

Greetings Everyone!

I know this is early to make a thread for the Fall 2011 Hopkins Applicants! But still, it is better to start getting ready than waiting at the last minute! I highly suggest everyone start getting your letters of recommendations, and just hide it until you are ready to apply. I will be applying and submitting my application around September 2010 as an early decision applicant for Fall 2011.

I have to finish up Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Developmental Psychology, and one more chemistry class this coming Summer 2010. During the Fall of 2010 and Spring 2011, I will be finishing up just general requirements like history, Microbiology, English Composition, Statistics, some foreign languages, and humanities (elective classes).

I will be applying for the BSN Traditional Program considering I do not have a degree, thus, I am not qualified to apply for the accelerated program. I'm really excited about this.

I will only be applying to UPenn and Johns Hopkins University for my BSN traditional program. If I do not get accepted, I will be attending my current university's school of nursing. I am already in the university's nursing program, but I don't start clinical preceptorship until 2 years from now.

I will graduate May 2013 regardless where I go. Either JHU or UPenn or stay at my current university.

If I will be accepted at either JHU or UPenn, then definitely I will be attending those schools! I love nursing research, and I want to learn more about research and providing quality care to our patients.

We will see how it will go. I have six months until I submit my application to both schools. Remember time is running fast.

Hope everyone are doing well on their pre-requisites! Good luck to all!

Feel free to post around so we can help each other for Fall 2011! I've read the thread for the JHU Fall 2010. I've noticed everyone in that thread got accepted, and some waitlisted! Its a good sign!

Have a wonderful day!

Hmm...I don't think so, because the deadline for regular decision, traditional option was January 15, 2011. My application was complete, and I received an email, on January 13, 2011.

DiamondCoffee,

It seems that you applied to the traditional program. http://nursing.jhu.edu/apply/deadlines/

I believe most people on this forum applied to the accelerated program.

Okay. I did see some traditional folks on here, so I figured it was still worth asking. Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion! I assumed you were an accelerated applicant just because that's the majority of the posters lately! My bad, you were perfectly on time. I have no idea why she called other than if something was missing in your application, to confirm your application is 100% complete or to set up an interview. Johns Hopkins has been really good about making the application process very personal by calling to speak to you one-on-one and sending individual emails so I wouldn't assume the worst by any means. I think they are just really busy right now with the regular admission accelerated decisions so it's going to be tough contacting anyone.

Hi Diamond Coffee! Not to fret! I was in the same boat when the director of admissions left me a message asking for me to call back too! I was both excited and nervous! It was sorta like phone tag after that because she was so busy! But she emailed me back and it was to verify some things in my application so that they could go back and make their decision. She may just need some clarification in a certain aspect of your application. But it is true, the admissions committee at Hopkins is so warm and personable! After replying to Mary(director of admissions), I got my acceptance call about 4 days later! Best of Luck! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you! (i'm also a trad bsn applicant :)

Hi Snguy!

I just have a quick question, were you an early decision applicant?

well, here's to hoping we hear something THIS week ;)

hear what? are we waiting for something? :)

Hi Danbar! I was an early decision applicant! so i am sure you guys will hear back from admissions really soon if you applied for the trad date! I was supposed to have found out about my acceptance by the 15th of December, but i didn't find out until the 23rd. So if you guys hear back a little later, try not too worry too much. :) Best of luck!

Has anyone tried to call to find out when we would hear?

So I just emailed admissions, and they got back to me saying that we will hear by the end of the month or sometime in early March :/

Hmm... sounds like Mary has been in admissions meetings for the last week, so they've already been giving a real look at the apps. Hard to see how that could take another three weeks. I may be just being optimistic, but it sounds like they are trying to set conservative expectations.
