Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency Program 2020

Hi,

I have applied for and received an invite to interview at JHH on a pediatric unit. I figured since there are previous threads for past years I'd start a new one for 2020 hires/start dates! Lets all keep each other informed and updated through the process.

Have recently received an offer from a unit to join the new graduate residency program at JHH. I'm a may graduate and was wondering if there were any others here expecting to start in one of the August cohorts? Coming from out of state so definitely new to Baltimore. Anything and everything you have to share lmk!!

Congratulations! I am starting August and I am from out of state too! I am searching for apartments/houses now

Quick question please...a little background I am coming from a cheap state where a 2 bed cost max $700?. So my question is.. do y’all think a two bed for $1500-$1600 with all utilities included a fair price in Maryland?? It feels too huge but then what do I know..

Honestly I would expect to pay more than that, especially if you want to be in one of the safer neighborhoods (canton, fells point, fed hill, etc). For reference I live in a three bedroom apartment in one of the nicer areas and it’s $2600/month with only garbage included. We also toured row houses that were $2200-2600 depending on how good the area was. I only know of one place that was in the price point but it’s technically student housing for Hopkins university and way smaller than my current apartment.

Oh WOW!! Thanks dear! WOW!! This is going to be an interesting and hopefully wonderfully expensive change for me.

Hey! I live in Mt. Vernon, which is a very safe neighborhood in Baltimore. It's a 10-minute straight-shot to the hospital from me. I have a one-bedroom, pay for a parking spot, and with all utilities I pay $1500 a month.

I have friends in this area that live in row homes. One is in a 2-bedroom that is $1500 a month, the other is in a 3-bedroom that is $1800 a month. Both of those are street parking, though! Keep your eyes peeled... there are some good deals around here.

Thank you, will do. I have made a list of 45 apartments and townhomes I hope to tour before I pick LOL!

So.. I am hoping to take a second trip there to tour apartments after the coronavirus restrictions calm down. I will be renting a car so it would be easier to move around. If anyone is interested in touring apartments, you can dm me! We can ride together! Don’t worry about transportation it’s all on me! We are all in this together! You may just find an apartment/condo/townhome you like!

If you have specific neighborhoods in mind there are facebook groups to find roommates! I found one of my roommates through the canton one. Most people also post what type of work they do so you can easily find Hopkins new grads like that!
