Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency Program 2020

Hi,

I have applied for and received an invite to interview at JHH on a pediatric unit. I figured since there are previous threads for past years I'd start a new one for 2020 hires/start dates! Lets all keep each other informed and updated through the process.

My interview was changed to do it through webcam bc they dont want us to travel anymore. "Sharing time" cancelled and they dont know if they'll will give me an information session. I really hope my interview alone goes well and I get the job offer ?

Just to clarify my first comment... if I apply and am offered a position, since it is a nurse residency I have to start when the rest of the “cohort” starts right? If everyone starts august 3 then that’s when I have to go?

Lucky you! I wish mine was via webcam! I spent a lot of money on that trip! Flight and hotel, transport, etc.

Yes, read your offer letter well and if you can’t start/attend the orientation on the date listed, notify your recruiter/nurse manager ASAP. They may move the date for you. There is a provision on the offer letter that states you are required to attend a two-day new employee orientation and you have to successfully complete it else the offer will be rescinded, delayed or something else.

I would have loved to have the "sharing time" though! I was really looking forward to it haha but oh well

LOL yeah that makes sense. I enjoyed some, while there was this particular unit that I just couldn’t wait to get off.. I just knew in my heart that I wouldn’t want to be there.

My school just now changed to remote learning to the end of the semester and we are all freaking out about our exit exam and other proctored exams we were supposed to do, how a lot of us didn't finish all our practicum hours, commencement and pinning ceremony ? Hope all this doesn't delay me taking my NCLEX

Same here! I just received the info that for the rest of the semester we go online/remote

Hi everyone!! I applied about two weeks ago and my status says my application was forwarded to department for consideration but I haven't heard anything yet. I'm starting to get a little discouraged with not hearing back, is anyone willing to send the important things on their resumes they feel helped them stand out in the hiring process?

I was just there for onboarding and the nurse recruitment phone was ringing off the hook so it might be slower than normal with the virus causing so many changes. I wouldn’t freak out yet!! IDK what unit you’re applying to but I’d be happy to send you my application documents if you think that’d be helpful!

Dont be discouraged, this whole virus situation is changing the way anything and everything gets done. & I can share my resume w you if you'd like, dm me.
