Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins entry into nursing MSN program for January 2021 applicants. I just started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the July 1st deadline. Anyone else?? ?
Also, if anyone previously accepted here has any application tips, please do share. Thank you!
I was looking over my application and realized I wrote bachelors of science instead of masters of science in my application essay. I know it is too late to resubmit my essay ?. IDK if this may affect my application negatively. Such a stupid mistake on my part. Now im even more nervous because of a stupid mistake. Anyone have any advice? Would be so grateful.

Hey! You are able to edit your app on Nursingcas, but I would say it’s better to just leave it since they’ve probably looked through everything by now. I doubt that small mistake would prevent you from getting in!

Hi!
I emailed admissions regarding this and they were very kind about it. They included my email into my application packet regarding my application essay mistake.
I also asked about the follow up on admissions decisions again, and she said they have a lot of last minute applicants and is catching up on the reviewing process. She said updates should be going out by the end of this week and following weeks.

OMG I hope they send out some decisions soon! I’m really hoping to hear something this Friday.

That was nice of them. Although, I wouldn't have really bothered unless is caused inconsistencies or confusion in your essay(ies). I have no idea how SON does the application process review, but I'm guessing they look at the essays and other information separately rather than all at once. I think they look at the transcripts and biographical information for the initial elimination. Then they look at the essays, addendums, resume, and so forth. Thus, they've seen you have a masters. At the same time, by the time they get to reading the essays, they're not necessarily going to remember, so they're not going to see the conflict of information.
Remember, they're about a holistic approach in regard to offering admission. They're looking for the people that best fit their ideal candidate versus the ones with the most education or highest grades/GPA. I'm sure people who are manga cum laude and plenty of research or health experience will not be offered admission, yet someone with 3.0gpa, and minimal work/professional experience will be. And some people not offered admission will be offered elsewhere at very good schools too.
Hi all!
I just wanted to let everyone know I just received my decision and I was also placed on the waitlist. If I don't I get in this time, I will probably apply again for Fall of 2021. I have seen a few people post on here what they changed on their application after not getting in the first time. I am thinking of changing up my essay a bit and hopefully will have my new grades completed before January 1. Any more advice? Thanks so much ?

Hey! for the essay, IDK what you wrote about but I would definitely suggest making them very personal to you so they don’t just fall in the mix with a lot of other essays that basically say “I want to be a nurse to help people” if that makes sense. focus more on the “why”. hope that helps some! ?

Hi!
I also got put on waitlist and have already applied for the November deadline. I edited my resume a bit more to really emphasize who I am as a person and as an employee and student. I previously had only three references so I have added one more.
Good luck! I hope some spots open up for us!! ?
