Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins entry into nursing MSN program for January 2021 applicants. I just started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the July 1st deadline. Anyone else?? ?
Also, if anyone previously accepted here has any application tips, please do share. Thank you!

I was also accepted to the JHU program for this Spring but lucky for one of you on the waitlist, I will be giving up my seat because I just don’t think I can afford it. They promise everyone a scholarship, but I only received a 10k scholarship which will only bring the program down to 90k.
anyone else having doubts about attending ?
Hey,
Did you apply for aid! I was able to get Financial aid and a grad plus loan along with the scholarship no issue. Apply for those before you give up your seat. A lot of opportunities for aid.

Yeah I filled out the FAFSA but IDK how much they will give me so we will see. In terms of scholarships I was told that you are automatically reviewed for all of them and I only received the one worth 10k.
also does anyone know how long the program is exactly ? I know it’s 5 semesters but is that like 18 months ?

I don't think you should worry about it! A lot of the times its just admissions sending out mails and emails right now. It might also be random which is probably why some people are getting their waitlist decisions right now and acceptances at the same time. Please don't lose hope :).

I just wanted to let everyone know I just received my decision and I was also placed on the waitlist. If I don't I get in this time, I will probably apply again for Fall of 2021. I have seen a few people post on here what they changed on their application after not getting in the first time. I am thinking of changing up my essay a bit and hopefully will have my new grades completed before January 1. Any more advice? Thanks so much ?
I applied late to fall 2020 because I just found out about the program and I was waitlisted so I applied to Spring 2021 for early decision and was accepted. I chose a different essay question and I tweaked the first essay question just a little. They really just want to get an idea of who you are. They are also big on diversity. Looks at their mission statement and values and apply it yourself but make it truthful. Good luck, you got this!!
I got an email from an admission counselor last Friday about resubmitting my resume, so ik that they are at least reviewing our applications now.
For those that have been accepted as well as for those who are still waiting. If you don't mind helping, can you provide your stats?
Thank you and congratulation!

I’ve been accepted
overall GPA 3.55
Bachelor degree in health administration
worked at Kennedy Krieger Institute for 6 years which is affiliated with JH in health administration
did some volunteer work
As you can see I don’t have a strong medical background LOL. I think it’s good to have one but it doesn’t seem to be a dealbreaker. They really do take on a holistic review of applications.
btw the same thing happened to me, they asked to send them an updated resume and about a week letter I was accepted.
Good luck !!
Hey! I was accepted during the regular admissions application period for Spring 2021. Overall GPA was 3.8. Undergraduate degree is in English and Journalism. I did a study abroad in Puerto Rico doing outreach (clean needle exchange, homelessness, communities still feeling the impacts of Hurricane Maria). I’ve been a CNA since 2018 where I have worked with late-stage Alzheimer’s and rehab patients. I conducted research about systemic racism in undergraduate school. I have 500 volunteer hours with nonprofits, and I was a foster parent for 4 years. For reference, I’m 30, so I didn’t apply immediately after graduating with my Bachelors.

Thats awesome! I have similar GPA but you had 6 years of experience which definitely set you aside. I hope my 200hr volunteer experience is enough ?.
congratulation once again I’m so happy for you!!

You have tremendous stats and experience. Congratulation on your acceptance, and rightfully so!
