Johns Hopkins Direct Entry MSN- Fall 2016

Published

Hi there! Is there anyone applying to the direct entry msn program at Hopkins for Fall 2016 start?

CONGRATS jj_muzings! Thanks for letting us know that we can all keep an eye out for the message, now. By the way, did they include any scholarship information (whether/not you were considered for any) with your notice?

No, they did not! Which is a bit worrying, because I thought it would come with acceptance. I sent an email to ask about this. So, I'll let you know as soon as I hear back.

And, thank you! I'm pretty excited :)

I got my acceptance as well, but no financial aid info. If you've sent your FAFSA, they probably have your info on file and will get you information if you ask for it.

Luckily, I got into Samuel Merritt -- 10 minutes from my house -- so will be taking that over a cross-country move. :) I've gotten a few acceptances for MSN/ABSN programs and no one else sent anything either. With Samuel Merritt (who I had listed on my FAFSA) they emailed me right back with my estimated expenses, using my 2015-16 FAFSA. You can probably do the same at JHU. Good luck everyone!

Just got my acceptance email!!!!!! OMG!!! So, jj_muzings, what's it gonna be... Hopkins or GW?

For others, it would be helpful to know what was in your packet that the email said would be sent via snail mail.

CONGRATS!!!! Very happy you got in!

I have yet to decide which university I'll be attending. I think I will go to the "admitted students" day for both universities to get a bit more insight. I received the W2 scholarship at MWHC, so it really just depends on whether I receive a scholarship for Hopkins!

You did not receive any financial aid info in your initial email? Will you definitely be going to Hopkins?

Congrats again!!

I am in the same boat with GW's W2 scholarship. It was offered to me too! I think we crossed paths a couple Saturday's ago. (I would PM you, but I still haven't reached the quota on this board).

Anyhoo, no financial aid info in the Hopkins email. I will give the financial aid office a call this week if I don't get the packet in the mail. If I find out any interesting info, I will be sure to share with the rest of the group.

So apparently, they will be sending an email at some point with a Graduate Financial Aid application form. After we fill that out, they should have a "better idea" of when we'll hear back about any decisions. This makes me feel like it will be some time before we'll have any definitive answers about financial aid, unfortunately.

@Mslala808 Will you be going to the Accepted Students Day for GWU?

Congrats on your acceptances!! I changed my mind and applied late for the Fall, so hopefully I'll get accepted, if not I'll just resubmit for the Spring.

If you don't mind me asking, what were your GRE scores like?

Financial Aid Update: I spoke with the Hopkins financial aid office today, and Erin said they are trying to ensure the online Graduate Aid Application is open by next Monday (3/7) with award package notices going out (via email) around Friday (3/11).

Hi! My name is Jo, and I'll be in the Fall 2016 cohort as well. I was admitted this past January, deferred, and am now feeling ready and excited to begin!

Has anyone begun a facebook page, or shall I get one going? And have most applicants been notified of admission at this point? I'm surprised the feed has been so quiet here, the last thread was pretty busy!

Cheers and congrats to all! Fingers crossed for a nice financial aid package now! ;)

Congrats jamaral! Not sure if all others have received their admissions notices. I've been quiet on the post because I received my financial aid info last Friday, as Hopkins promised. I am now trying to decide if it's worth accumulating student loandebtOR do I potentially attempt to work full-time while studying at Hopkins. This nursing degree means too much to me to not be 100% focused, and I feel as though I am too old to acquire the amount of debt this degree will bring. If I ultimately decide on Hopkins, I will definitely look into whatever FB page is created.

That is a huge consideration! I have considered working part time while in school as a nurse tech to try and cover living expenses at the least, but it's true, it is hard to say how that balance will work once the program starts. The nurse corps loan repayment is a tempting option if you haven't looked into that / heard of it -- most likely that is what I'll end up doing after school, a 2 year commitment to a "critical shortage facility" and they pay 60% of your loans, 85% for a third year. I'll keep tabs on the thread and maybe will make a page in the next few weeks :) Best of luck in all your decision making!
