Is anybody applying to the DNP program at Johns Hopkins University for the Fall 2018 term? Has anybody heard anything? or how difficult is it to get in the program? average GPA?
Congratulations for those of you who got into the DNP program. I just got invited to interview for the PhD/DNP dual program and I am having trouble figuring out where to start in preparing for it! For those of you who got into the DNP program, what were your interview questions like? Thank you!!!
Hello, Calimurse! Congratulations on the invitation! May I ask when and how did you receive it? Do they call or do they send out the email? Thank you! All the best to the interview!
Hi neverlands, RN. I got contacted via email and phone on the friday before christmas. still trying to figure out how to prepare for the interview. I believe it is an all day event on campus with faculty and current students
Thanks for sharing the information! During the open house, as I remembered they said PhD/DNP application will be reviewed both by PhD committee and DNP committee and they will make the interview at the same day. Therefore, I supposed that candidate might expect at least two rounds of interview by PhD faculty and DNP faculty individually (and perhaps another with both...) Good luck and all the best!

It was pretty standard. I got questions like, "Are you willing to move out of your state?" "What do you expect out of the program?" "Do you have an idea of what your DNP project will be?" "How do you handle stress or critique, and what do you think would be your biggest challenge during your DNP program?'. Just be honest with them and you'll be ok! Good luck on your interview!
Just received my official admissions email with the link to the pay the deposit. Not sure when the deposit is due by though. Said we should be getting an admissions package in the mail. I hope it has financial aid information....
I believe the due date for the deposit will be in the actual mailed admissions package. I'm hoping they give me awhile because I'm waiting for other schools. There's financial aid info that was emailed to me, and I believe they'll keep emailing until awards are sent out by April.
Hi!
I got my packet yesterday. It said we have 3 weeks from the date on the acceptance letter to submit our deposit. Also looks like only the 1st semester is distance learning. We have to move to Baltimore by beginning of Spring 2019 semester. Orientation is Aug. 31st i believe.
I was hoping there was an accepted students day for DNP students prior to that but I didn't see anything about that.
Congrats again to everyone who are getting accepted! I'm also waiting to hear back from another program which is making the decision process kind of tricky for me. Another huge influence for me is going to be the financial aid. Just of out curiosity, has anyone been able to connect with a current student in the program?
Hi habbas1,
I believe we applied to the same program! I'm also waiting to hear back from another program, but JHU is my first choice.
I know they had said that they do not offer need-based aid. I am also interested in speaking with someone else enrolled in the program. I am trying to figure out if I'll be able to keep my full-time job during that first semester or if it'll be too much. Thinking about scheduling a tour and visiting the campus. Maybe then I can talk to current students...
RiaC,
Yes we did! Thank you for that info, I completely was not aware that they don't offer need-based aid. Hopkins is also my top choice, but cost if a huge factor since I will have to relocate from Chicago. In talking to the director and reading up some other info about the program, they have said that working the first year can be possible but might be difficult...
Yes, I also heard that working full-time can be difficult because the courses are challenging. I wish there was an accepted students day for DNP students too so that we could talk with current students and ask them our questions!
I would be relocating as well but from NJ/NY metro area. I'm applied for the 3 year program which is full-time...makes me hesitant about working full-time at the same time...Also, on the admissions packet it said that we had to relocate by the start of the Spring 2019 semester for advanced health assessment which is only a year from now...
