Hi @coffee&scrubs, i am currently a DNP/PhD student (although I know other schools are starting these programs) and I TOTALLY disagree with the first 2 comments. It is 100% worth it and a useful dual degree. @Jules A stated that it is a cash grab for universities...and in fact that is false. DNP degrees are expensive, but PhDs are funded, with living stipends. Therefore spending an extra 2 years to get the DNP at the same time as the PhD means that I am getting a DNP degree for free/getting paid to do it. Also, PhDs are increasingly usefully particularly in nursing with the shortage of nursing faculty. Only 1% of nurses get PhDs which means you will be at the top of any job pool and have your pick of faculty positions if you choose. Finding a DNP/PhD project that is related is doable but is a challenge, that is for sure. But if you want to do your own research as well as clinically practice, then the degree is a great fit for your goals. It is the equivalent of an MD/PhD degree meaning that you find it important to advance nursing science while also staying relevant in clinical practice. Far too often, we have nursing researchers that are so out of touch with current practice, the research isn't useful. By being a clinician and researcher, your work will be more relevant and useful to advancing nursing science. plus, you wont get bored. Best of luck, do not be deterred from the hard work. You can do it!

Does anyone know when the summer semester starts in may?

hi all, im interviewing for penn crna soon. I was wondering if anyone had insight on what they asked in the interview as well as if anyone who lived out of state was able to conduct the interview online or if it was mandatory to fly to campus? thank you

Hi all, I just got invited to interview at penn. I was wondering if those of you who interviewed already had insight to the questions that were asked as well as the format of the interview. Also those who are out of state did you fly to campus or skype interview ?

I agree. And at this point I can't afford to buy a flight to fly out for an interview on such short notice anyway. A little annoyed they aren't sensitive to those who are out of state for making arrangements

Nothing! But we have to be close. It's kinda soon if they expect us to book flights and accommodations for an interview

Hi, im applying to OHSU as well. Im trying to get a read on the stats of applicants that they take. I called them and last year they said they got 100 applicants and took only 9 Without the GRE required, it looks like they only look at resume, essay, letters of rec, and gpa in the decision.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone who works at Primary Children's Hospital can tell me if there are differentials for the nurses? I know that the base starting pay is $22.51 an hour, but do their hourly wages increase for night shifts, weekend shifts, and holidays? Thank you!
