This thread is for applicants applying to Johns Hopkins, for either the ABSN or the new Master's Entry program. I've searched a few times and haven't found a thread for this year's admissions cycle, so I decided to start one.
After lots of thinking, I decided to apply to the Master's Entry instead of the ABSN. Anyone else out there applying?
Hi! Nice to hear from another rpcv! I served in the Dominican Republic. I am trying to decide between Columbia and Hopkins... Going to Columbias visoting day next week, but I'm leaning toward Hopkins at this point. How about you? Have you spoken with any current fellows students about their experience in the coverdell program at hopkins?
@Mrunner15 Great to hear from you. I'd love to hear your thoughts after visiting Colombia next week. I have been in touch with several RPCVs who have completed the JHUSON ABSN program, and would be happy to share my takeaways from conversations with them. Do you want to connect my email/ Skype to chat further? My email is [email protected]; please feel free to reach out when you have a chance!
Sorry so late! I definitely wouldn't mind a roommate! In fact, I am going to the March 27 New Student Day and I'll look for apartments while I'm there. So many people told me to look at neighborhoods and apartments before signing a lease. I just want to make sure I find an affordable place in a safe neighborhood.
this is what they told me when i emailed them a similar question (this was dated march 6th for those who haven't heard back yet):
"Decision letters for the MEN program were supposed to start going out this week but due to the snow storm that has been delayed. They should start going out next week and continue the following week.
Regarding your question about if you will need to apply for the NP degree, the answer is yes. All JHU students have to apply to any additional degrees.
Your Master's Entry into Nursing is for a generalist nursing degree not an advanced nursing degree. So you would need to go into the 2 year Nurse Practitioner program."
@snailzy, I am not able to send a private message, so here is my response:
Oh man, and isn't the MSN actually 2 years? So 4 years to get the MSN-NP? Columbia is appealing because it only takes 2.5/3 years to become a FNP. No interview for Columbia, just an essay. The application was pretty easy, actually. Where are you learning toward going?

@mayrar, I was recently accepted to JHU's MSN program and would appreciate any information you have on housing as well. Thanks in advance, and congrats on being accepted!
