Hello everyone,
I am applying to JHU's Accelerated BSN program. I am wondering if anyone can offer any insight into how competitive the admissions process is, what GRE scores are considered good, etc.
Also, if anyone is/was enrolled in the program, any insider information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Stacy
Oops, I misread your post! I thought you said that you were already offered a spot @ JHU!
My program is ehhh. I'm not so happy with it. In my second-degree cohort, we are losing almost half next semester. People are planning to sit out and apply to HOPKINS and Maryland next year. I would consider it, but neither school takes transfer credits. And who wants to repeat Patho
?
I have heard that the Patho teacher at Hopkins (Taylor) is AMAZING! One of the instructors at my school is another more recent Hopkins grad and she has given us the hopkins powerpoint slides to use in studying for exams. I took my prereqs with Hopkins nursing grads as well (I took five years to do them) so everyone else has graduated by now, and they had nothing but good things to say about the school!
It's my dream to live in NYC! I have an art history background and I just love all of the culture that Manhattan has to offer. I just need to finish the RN first! Are you the same StacyG on FB?
Yep, that's me on FB. :-)
I actually cannot wait to take Patho-- it is insanely interesting to me, and I am way better at learning concepts (disease processes) than clinical skills (catheterizations, for example). Hopefully I'll be sitting in on one of Prof. Taylor's lectures soon!
I cannot believe that half of your cohort is dropping-- after such an investment! Congrats to you for sticking it out this far-- I know the programs are super-intense, no matter which school you're in.
Have you been here before? Honestly, my move here was really stressful- adjusting to the long commutes, noise, and general chaos. Now, I can really appreciate a lot about life here. And there are so many wonderful hospitals and universities, it can be hard to choose from angst them.
RNs can make a killing here, too! Good luck to you, and look me up if you come this way!!!

Hey all, another early decision applicant here! Due to a recent layoff (ie, nothing else to think about) I've moved beyond pins and needles to utter insanity. My poor mailman, I think he thinks I'm stalking him Is anyone else here applying for the Peace Corps Fellows program? Happy thanksgiving to everyone. Lets hope in a few weeks we all have the same thing to be thankful about!
I'm so glad other people are freaking out too! I am going CRAZY waiting to hear from Hopkins.
Last year they got calls starting around the 9th of December...maybe we'll get calls by the end of next week too!!! A girl can dream I guess.
Good luck to all of you and let's hope the time flies by...

Honestly, JHU is my number one pick-- if I were single. Since my husband and son and I are settled in NYC for now, Columbia is extremely attractive for other reasons. Nevertheless, I have applied to JHU as an early decision candidate, and would be thrilled to be accepted there. If Columbia later accepts me (I have been told I should have a decision in Feb), I would really have some soul-searching to do. I also currently work at Columbia, so there are some advantages to staying "in-house"...
I can't wait to get accepted ANYWHERE at this point!
I'm glad to know that you are getting what you want to out of your program. Columbia and Hopkins both have wonderful grad programs too, so you have tons of options. You sound so focused and mature, I am sure you'll do well wherever you end up! If you ever decide on Columbia, let me know: I can probably give you a little perpspective on it and on city life here.
