Has anyone taken the Excelsior College exam for Anatomy and Physiology for Johns Hopkins school of nursing. My A &P is more than 5 yrs old and they want me to take the courses online. I'm hoping there is someone out there who has taken it so as to give advice on how the test is set up. Any info is greatly appreciated!

I thought calls where only for the masters program. Don't think ABSN applicants get called notifying admittance.

This is what I'm so paranoid about. Not finding a nursing job after I graduate from the nursing program and investing thousand of dollars. I don't want to have this huge gorilla on my back and no income coming in to pay for the massive debt. This is so stressful!

i know this post is more than a year old. Did you figure out how to pay for the Accelerated program??

Why did you switch to traditional to accelerated nursing program??

By the time Im done Im soooo exhausted and pass out in bed LOL. Thanks for the link also. Seems like you really did your homework! I really hope I get it! I want to be a nurse so bad. Hi Rockkstarr Thanks for the reply. Im done with question 1 & 3. Still stressing over the critical thinking. Dont know if they want a clinical experience or what. I was thinking of issues with co-workers but wouldnt that be core valuese??? Heck I dont know! Havent had a good night's sleep in days. People telling me to think of a situation or experience I've had, well stating the obvious lol. Best of Luck to you. Do you know when they let us know of acceptance? Have you spoken to anybody already in the program? Still trying to decipher on the 13mth or 21mth program. Its only an 8mth difference.

OH my gosh! Thank you so much! This definitely helped me narrow down what experience I wanted to talk about. Wasn't sure it was a strong enough experience to put down on my essay but thanks for the clarification/direction. Hey Stacy! I will be applying for both the traditional and accelerated program. Have you spoken to anybody in both programs to get an idea of the pace?? I would love to finish in 13mths but don't know if I can hang with the pace. Im really stressing over the essay topics. The one Im stuck on is critical skills question. What situation did you talk about? I know people get touchy about their personal essay but I just just a general idea without any specifics. You can personally email me if you'd like. I'm in the westcoast and dont mind relocating at all. JHU is too good to pass up!

Hey thanks for you response Daytonite. I added the "What experiences have you had in the field that enabled you to obtain the skills and values that you have or have strengthened due to your working environment" As a general question that Im asking people in this forum. This wasn't part of the essay question. The essays were just #1 & #2. The reason Im having a hard time with this because for question #2 do they want me to describe and emergency situation that I encountered, for example a person that stopped breathing, and how I followed protocol? Like I "yelled 911 then I proceeded to clear the airways then..." etc. Since I'm a medical assistant, do they want to get a snapshot of how I deal with the flow of the clinic? ..."If I have a patient coming in for a biopsy these are the steps I take..." etc Does it have to be an actual clinical situation? I'm asking this because I know you have experience in interviewing and know what nursing schools are looking for so I appreciate and advice that you give. The situation that I was thinking of using kinda ties in both questions (1&2). So don't know if I should give one long answer to both questions and risk getting dinged for it or answer both questions separately. Let me know Daytonite! I think your tips are golden! Hey are you still around on the forums...would like to ask you a few questions.

No worries I got rejected too and I'm glad they did. They are snobbish and didn't care for the interviewers. They pretty shut me down before I even opened my mouth. Your GPA is way higher than mine so Im surprised they didnt accept you. If I were you, I'd email to ask if its worth applying again. I did the same thing and she never responded. Needless to say, I got turned down for the second time. Screw GU! lol
