A lot will depend on state and whether you have experience. Another thing to take into account is do you need a work visa. This has been posted in the wrong forum but once you answer my questions then I can move this to a more appropriate forum
Thanks for the reply, silverdragon. I don't need a work visa. I am a permanent resident, a green card holder. I have a california RN license, just recently passed the RN NCLEX exam last month and I am seeking for a job in california. I do have an overseas experiences.

Finding a job in CA at this time is going to be quite tight. What type of experience do you actually have and in what area and in what country? What part of CA are you currently in? If the Bay Area, you are going to be out of luck. There is an abundance of nurses that have trained in the area that cannot get hired.
CA facilities are actually having lay-offs now as well as hiring freezes, and unless you have significant work experience, you will be considered a new grad here and the next new grad programs at the earliest will be this summer. And in actuality, some that were scheduled to begin this month and next have already been cancelled.
Not having work experience in the US at this time is going to be an issue for you.
I am also moving this thread to the CA forum since it is more appropriate there.
