Hi,
I am planning on apply for a nursing program in Alabama and praying that I get into a nursing program for the Summer 2016. I currently work full time and have two kids and a Husband that works out of town. I don't have a reliable babysitter so I am having a hard time trying to figure out what I can do since I will need to drop down to Part time working at least 3 or 4 days a week for a few hours.
I would like to keep my Health Insurance but I know many jobs don't give it to people that works only Part time. Is there any Jobs that works with a Nursing Student? I would like to stay within the Healthcare Field.
Thank you!!

The only problem with this is. It starts slow then picks up. If you are already having problems getting things sort it will become. Even more frustrated once you are in program. You want be able to work that many days. I wasnt but it all depends on how well you can. Stay organized and read ahead because once you fall even a chapter behind its hard to catch up. Speaking from my ecperience. I needed to work 3 days 12 hrs 3 kids ages 5 and 6 plus a husband. Plus manage house, family and kids including visits to kids school for different things. It became hard for me to pick up kids having to drive across town. Let alone one car put us down. So all stress was on one car. Map your plan out plus have back up. Everything that can go wrong will. Not trying to discourage. Just saying be prepared to have hills to cross things to go left and right.. Plus assignments to increase once clinicals begins.
Hi Girl, thank you for the information. I hope all is going well with your nursing program. if I get accepted hopefully I can stop working but I dont want to have my Husband working and paying all of the bills. Plus I want to try and keep my Health Insurance is the only reason why I want to work. But I understand doing all of those things while being a wife and having kids. I barely can manage working full time, school, kids, house and husband lol. I guess Ill have to play it by ear once I get into a program. A girl I worked with is at jeff state and she just quit her job. She is going into her 2nd semester.
I'm trying to prepare myself but probably cant be to prepared as of yet. I just pray. I hope all gets better on your end.

Hello,
I would suggest to try working for human services, this is with the mentally challenged personals. I know of people who are able to work 30+ hours a week when going to nursing school.
It's not the highest level of healthcare but it's still close since you do medications and also assist with some ADLs.
Hope this helps.

Sorry if this will sound really ignorant, but if this is the only reason, can you just apply for Obama care? The open enrollment is until the end of this month, I believe.
Hi thank you Linexoxox, I been applying a little bit everywhere now. Looked at the nursing schedule for the summer and basically my while week will be filled from 7:30-3 or 4pm. So I guess its all boils down to someone I can work for when ever I can. Looks like this will be at a nursing home or some sort.
For the obama care I dont think it will be a great fit for me but I will look at the cost for my family.

With human services, they at times offer over night asleep jobs - even the awake shifts are not that hectic. A nursing home will be more hectic on you.
I don't know what state you are in but I would recommend some agencies to you had you been in Massachusetts.
