Job as a new grad RN

Published

I just want to vent. I am currently a Kaiser employee and find it very disturbing, frustrating, and very discouraging that they will not give me a chance to prove my skills as a new grad RN! I have tried to talk to so many people and all tell me the same thing, we only hire experienced RNs come back in 6 months!

WOW!! :banghead:

Specializes in Critical Care; Cardiac; Professional Development.

That has sadly been happening to a lot of people. I hope you find something soon. Good luck!

I would encourage you to look at new grad internships!! I bet applications are open (or close to it) for the June cohorts. :) I'm in one and it is really helpful...

I feel your pain! I worked for Kaiser Ohio for the last fifteen years as an LPN, obtained RN licensure Sept 2011. I was also not given any opportunity for even an interview as I was considered a New Grad & experience is necessary. I had great performance reviews & lots of encouragement to get my RN license. Also, nursing is a second career (I am in my fifties) & I am now looking for job in a very saturated market. Hang in there & if you have to leave KP, just keep your contacts & get rehired after you get your "experience"

. Good luck.

I feel your frustration, as I'm going through the same thing. I've been working as a Kaiser LPN for 4 years in the NW region. My union and Kaiser both paid for my entire RN education; I became an RN a month ago. I have managers who want to hire me as an RN, but cannot bypass the experience required rule. (LPN experience does not count as previous experience.) I recently got hired on part-time at a skilled nursing facility, just to get experience. It's extremely frustrating. Good luck to you.
