So currently I am working as bedside RN and I been doing it for 2 years now. But the stress of the job finally got to me plus working night shift also doesn’t help. I decided to look for clinic jobs, and I did a actually get an offer for a job a really want but the only thing is the pay. I know that in a clinic setting I am going to obviously make less and I get that. The first offer I got for the job was super low because it’s the average amount new grad RNs make in the area. So I negotiated and I got them to go up $4more per hour. However, even that seemed too risky take since all my finances are based off the pay I got in the hospital. HR was willing negotiate again and get me $2more per hour. So basically the offer went from $29 to $33 to $35/hr. Would it be bad of me to negotiate for another extra $2/hr. Either way I’m going to take the job but I just wanted to see if it would be smart of me to at least try.

You can always try. Worst that happens is that they say no

You could negotiate yourself right out of the job.

I wanted to say that, but didn't. I've seen it happen

You've gained something like 10-12K here. Good job. I agree with both the above posters. It's up to you, but just like you don't have to take a job that's seriously too little money, they really have no reason to pay a certain wage just because of your personal budget/expenses. I personally think that some difference in pay range between acute care and outpatient is understandable based on the preferable working hours involved in outpatient. Sometimes there are just tradeoffs. At this point probably the best question is, "Am I okay with not having the job if their patience runs out?"
Good luck!
