Nurses Job Hunt

Hi, I recently graduated with my BSN in May 2020 and have applied to some residencies in my area. Most of the time, I would get to the interview round only to be told I could no longer go forward due to COVID 19 hiring freezes. At this point I am feeling very discouraged as I have been rejected from one residency and other hospitals have decided to not reopen their programs. I feel like I am now too late as this is the time most students start their residencies. Should I just give up and wait for the openings for the December grad cycle? If so, will the gap between the time I graduated and the time I apply make a difference?

By giving up, you mean change career field now because you can't find any residencies? How about widening your more search criteria and locations?
By giving up, I mean more so waiting until the new residency cycle starts which I assuming will be towards the end of the year. Location wise, I have been looking at 3 states so far as I am in the DMV area. I am currently set to test for an RN license in DC. If I have to wait until the next cycle, I was thinking of applying for a license in Maryland so that I can expand my search.
@newnurse98 As a bigger and major city, DC is definitely more competitive than other smaller cities

Hi,
You are not alone. Graduated from ADN in Fall 2019 and soon will be graduating in Dec 2020 from RN-BSN program, I feel discouraged in job hunting as well. I am working as an RN now, but I want to have acute care experiences, especially in M/S and urgent care. I live in Glendale, any tips for getting a hospital job ? Any programs for newly licensed RN in acute care settings ?
