Job Corps CNA Program

Published

Hi, Im just wondering if anyone has taken their nursing assistant program in JOB CORPS. If so, how is it like? I think its a free program, but what is the schedule? As well as the length of the program? And any other additional information I may need to know about the program. THANKS!

YES you can!! you just have to do sign up as "NON-RESS" then you can go to community college after school good luck!

Thank you! That sounds very interesting. I am interested in becoming a CNA to work my way up to a RN, but from what I've heard, CNA's don't make too much money.

Have you started the LVN program?

No, we dont make much... but getting your CNA will get you a job for the mean time and it will look really good on your resume when you do become an RN

By the way Job Corp also has an R.N program again totally free!! You may have to travel out of state but it is so worth it !! Its an oppurtuinty of a life time I know for sure they have one in Virgina and i think NC but go to your local J.C and sign up for the CNA once your done with your CNA there then you tell them that you want to continue your education and be transferred for the advanced training program .....then they will send you to the R.N program or LVN and your education will be free

I start my LVN program on aug 22 I am so excited!!!

Good luck!! let us know what you decide to do

Yes, I've read that being a CNA will look great on a resume, and money is tight therefore, I figured it wouldn't hurt to get my foot in the door. I've even started researching places where I can apply too lol, a little early, but at least I feel that I have a sense of where I am going. :D

I am already enrolled in the CNA course at my J.C, I start next month! :)

Thank you for your responses :)

I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

(where are u located [state])

Thank you msloving&caring77 :)

This encouragement is really helping with my nerves. I'm actually scheduled to start the Job Corps CNA program in Atlanta, GA on Tuesday (yikes!!) and I'm so nervous and excited at the same time. How long does it take to obtain the CNA certificate? I'm hoping I can get mine within 2-4 months, if I work really hard. I plan on obtaining my RN degree through Job Corps or transferring to Macon State College to get my RN degree, if my financial aid works out.

I'm in Job Corps right now at the Atlanta campus :) I've been here for about a week and its been great so far. The people are so nice and it's nothing like the horrible reviews I read on the internet. Maybe it's because I keep to myself so I stay away from the drama. The only problem is that the cna class is filled so I might do the culinary program until it opens.I'm thinking if I should stay to do their advanced training lpn program, or transfer to Macon State College for their RN program. I thought the RN program in Job Corps would be free, but its not. Only their LPN program is free :(

Hi there! I'm a former instructor for Job corps in simpsonville, ky and its a GREAT and FREE program!!! You must be between the ages of 16-24 (or enrolled and ON center at least the day before you turn 25)It's mostly self paced study, you learn your skills and we take you to clinical then we set up and pay for your state certification exam. They give you free room and board, and you have opportunities to get your high school diploma or GED as well as help applying to colleges. Also job corps offers advance training in order to get your LPN (you apply just like you would to a traditional LPN program from whatever job corps you go to for your CNA classes) I have two students who were just accepted last month before i quit! And the LPN program is also FREE but you MUST attend a JC for your NA first! I hope that helps with info...just call an enrollment specialist and if you plan on doing LPn later through JC you really need to not get into any trouble at school, or in the dorms, and take their TABE tests and score around 600 on both reading and math! good luck!

What are the income restrictions for applying? usually, I can't apply for things like FASA and other things because my parents make too much and won't give me their SSN. But, if it's based on individual income I'm golden. Thanks

I had the same problem. My parents just had to take me off as a dependent on their taxes, and then I would only be accounted for my own income (which is $0 haha). They explain it all at a Job Corps orientation. Just call and set up an appointment and they will work with you.
