Anyone actually get a call back after applying? My goodness! I have applied for so many Attendent jobs and not once call back. I even applied for a job in laundry (It makes more then the group home I am currently working with) and nothing. I really dont think that many people could be applying as its a pretty small community... I have to stop and wonder if they are just placing adds for the fun of it.

Maybe I complained too soon. I got an interview. I did it both ways. I went into the hospital AND I applied on the website. More then once... my guess is they are sick of me!! haha

Kinda crappy though I just got a great job that I love!! AHS just offers so much more $$$$..... I am torn.

AHS offers union rates and union protection. That's worth thinking about.

Having said, there is a rumour that there will be a hiring freeze until the HR system switches over. Remember we were supposed to be going to e-people with payroll in September? It's October last I heard.

Yes, the union protection is on the pro's side of my list. AHS has alot more pro's then con's so I think thats who I'll go with if it all works out in my favor.

Another hiring freeze! I thought they were just tooting their horn about offering a tone more nursing positions... Go figure.

I don't think we should call it a "freeze". More like a "pause". They're hiring people but won't be having them start until after the province has gone totally over to ePeople is my guess. It does kind of make sense not to have new people coming on-stream or existing staff moving to new units right in the middle of getting the payroll and the rest of it moved over. Duplication of effort, if you will. But I'm just guessing - I haven't heard anything concrete.

The interviews are flying fast and furious at work. So it will be interesting to see what shakes out.

i am worried about paying the fees for a license (i live in ontario) and attempting to get a job with no luck.... there are jobs all over the AHS website for LPN's but who knows if they are actually jobs.. i was looking at Grand Prairie

and Fort McMurray...

I think it was joanna73 who said don't get the AB license before you get a job offer. Just say that you're eligible on your resume.

Do you have someone to stay with up there? Housing is very, expensive and scare.

Fiona - no... i was looking online at apartment rentals and there does seem to be quite a few open at least they claim to be open... One of the companies was NPR Reit (i believe)... We do have friends in AB just lower in the province...

I have been applying for about a month and a half for numerous positions in Calgary.

Looking at the positions I have applied for 4 out of 12 closed postings were filled and the rest are no longer accepting resumes. Somewhat frustrating as I have now applied for 12 more positions and many are the same units, eft and what not with different job numbers.

I am just going to keep applying and hoping... I figure alberta nurses deserve first dibs

Good luck for everyone out there looking

I know this post is a few months old already, but am I ever glad I found it. I am in Calgary and have applied to 28 RN positions with AHS in the last 2 1/2 years, and not one response. I am working at a private clinic right now, for much less pay, but am trying desperately to get into AHS to get more experience. It seems like most of the postings are only up for a few days before they close, or they get filled (probably already filled before the posting went up). It is really frustrating knowing that I am getting nowhere with my nursing career. Kind of makes you question why you went into nursing, cuz it has been nothing but hardship trying to balance finding a good job, with hours that you can work, and getting in to AHS :(
