I am graduating in May, and I have a clinical at a local hospital right now. We are rotating through a few floors and the first week I was on an ortho/med-surg floor. I loved it! The nurses were wonderful, I actually had fun, and I learned a lot. The manager on the floor said he would give me a job, so I put in my application. I went and talked to him this week and he said he had already called HR and had them pull my file. He says he has a few things he has to do to get the position approved, but he doesn't think it's going to be a problem and he said when it gets approved the job is mine! He said the staff on the floor had nothing but good things to say about me and he said consider this your interview. He said he felt like I was a professional and that I would be good on the floor. I'm supposed to check with him next week to find out about the approval.
My problem is that I am afraid to jump at the first thing I get. What if I get a better offer at another hospital? I'm just afraid that if I did get a better off at another hospital that I maybe wouldn't enjoy it as much. I already feel very comfortable at this hospital I am at now and I look forward to going and I feel like everyone there is always happy. I have already applied at several other hospitals and I have only heard back from one, and all I got was a survey to fill out and they said they would contact me in a few weeks if I fit the job description. And this was several weeks ago, and still no word. So I'm really confused, not sure what I should do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! :)

The first offer you get might be the only offer you get. You say that only one other hospital has responded to your application for employment. This offer sounds like a good fit, take it if it turns out. You might regret turning it down. Or, you can wait until you have several offers on the table and choose one of them. Your choice.

If this feels right and they want you, for heaven's sake take it!! Consider yourself very, very lucky and if things change, you will have had some experience. Believe me, you could do a lot worse than choose a job where you are wanted and you think you could be happy.

Take the job and stop thinking about what may happen in the future, b/c if you don't take the offer and don't get another offer you will want to kick yourself. Feel priviledged to have an offer!!!

As someone who is pretty much motivated by money I have to admit that working with a team I know, like and fit in with is actually more important. I'd advise you to continue applying because I have had an offer where the position was never approved but if it comes through I'd jump at this one. Good luck!

Dear heavens, take the job! :) In this economy, who knows what will happen. And you like the place, to boot? Take it! :)
