JJC (Joliet Junior College) Fall 2015

U.S.A. Illinois

Hey I don't know if a thread has already been started for this program but I am interested in applying for the February 15th deadline for the Fall 2015 start date at JJC. I haven't signed up for my TEAS yet because I don't want to pick a date that is too early or too late since I also need to begin studying but I was thinking about signing up for the Feb 2nd 4th or 5th date. If anyone else is applying to the program or is currently in the program please feel free to reply and share anything that you can. Thanks =)

I just walked in the door now. Congratulations on improving your score! When is your advising appointment? Mine isn't until Feb 23rd. I wish it was sooner but hey.

thanks =) how'd you do? and i know me too but apparently all the appointment dates were filling up so we'll just see what happens

I was able to improve my score to an 80.7 composite, so I am VERY happy about that. My science was pretty weak at only a 69%. I had barely ANY human body science questions this time, which sucks because I'm best at Anatomy! Oh, well. I am relieved that the test is behind us, and we can stop stressing over it. Now, we wait and see what happens.

congrats! I guess the science doesn't matter then anyways if you got over an 80% lol. I'm still pretty nervous esp. because I think I'll probably have to do the essay portion but like you said I'm glad the test is done and over with so I'm just going to try and relax and wait. Is there a time frame for when the decisions go out?

Thank you! If you do the essay portion, just speak from the heart. That's my plan. I would practice grammar, spelling, etc. You will never know what you are supposed to write about until you get into that essay portion and they have it on the screen. So, just work on your grammar skills and be honest and you will do great! I have complete faith in you. :) I am going to read some of the posts from last year ( fall) and see when they found out if they got accepted or not. I'm really not sure of the time frame, I assumed like April.

Okay, I re-read the post from the girls that applied in Fall of 14' to begin this spring. They got their acceptance e-mails on Sept. 25th. So, if we follow that pattern, I would say we get our acceptance or denial emails around March 25th? AHHHHHHHHHHHHhh that's so far away.

oh goodness, it is pretty far away lol. I hope time goes by pretty quickly. and thanks for the advice about the essay. :)

I've never applied for the program before, so I've never done the essay. I honestly don't know what it's like so those are just based on my assumptions. :/ It IS pretty far. Just when we think we can breathe cuz the test is over, we have another 2 months to wait.....and wait.... and wait!

when i called the nursing admissions office I believe they said that the essay would probably deal with having to explain why you want to become a nurse or something of that nature. i just know that they wont tell us the actual prompt ahead of time but we'll be given a couple of hours to do it, I think on the computer. Lol waiting is going to be so hard

I do plan on calling after the 15th and asking how many people applied. I don't know what your testing site was like, but our TEAS group filled the entire room and they said it's been like that the past two weeks. Sounds like a LOT of applicants this round. :/

it wasn't very packed at all but then again the main campus is where most everyone signed up for of course. but that makes me nervous! lol if it's anything like the past then it's probably upwards to 200 applicants =/ Hopefully it isn't more than it has been in the past but then again it could be why the made the change with the science score and adding the essay

I have no idea, that's why I am calling next week to find out how many applied. Maybe we can estimate our chances better.
