I live in NY, but am licensed in NJ.
I taught at night in Essex County - 6-10.
Pay was comparable to NY.
I inquired about School Nurse, but the
salary was horrible.
Many NYers work in NJ, so the salaries must
be comparable or they wouldn't be working
there.
Good Luck !!

I'm from Philly, and I know the pay in the metro Philly area (including south Jersey) is pretty good (up to $50,000 to start)-- plus housing is cheaper in Jersey than in Philly. I think there are lots of magnet hospitals in Jersey as well.

$38-$41 per hour?!?!?!?! Is this just in NY?? because i just post a thread asking how much a nurse makes in Ontario and everyone is telling me under $22. they also said the most a nurse can make after nine years of work is $32... this one nurse in Manitoba has been working 4.5 yrs at $17 an hour!!!....what's the deal here? Canadian nurses are payed half what American's get?

B_MATT.........................What part of Jersey are you in? I am trying to relocate back up north and I am looking for some information about some GOOD hospitals in that state. I am originally from NYC and I am very familiar with the Jersey area.

Dear nursetobe, it is true that on east and west coast there are nurses making that kind of money. However, if you went to work at hospital in the interior you would most likely take a pay cut or get paid the same.

I live in Orlando, Florida and I started out making $18.70 as a new RN. Now I am a pool nurse for the hospital and will be making $24.00-$25.00 when February 16 comes around because that will be my one year anniversary. Down South always offer cheaper wages. Plus we do not have union so we do not have much rights. I'm a former New Yorker who love to return back home. Do you know of relocation packages. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am a new grad and myself and my classmates have been offered jobs at aprox. $27-32/hr in the central and north Jersey areas. The higher end of this range is working nights, which most of us are. Some smaller hospitals start at $24/hr Days for new grads, but it's definatly not hard to find a job making 29-30/hr. Good luck.
