Hi, anyone know what to do if you fail exit exam from Jersey college in Tampa? I have a friend told me to write complained to department of independent education to let them know. I finished the whole nursing program including clinicals and was holding back from graduated due to fail HESI exit exam.
They removed remediation. They turned seminar into a 12 week class in which you have to maintain an avg of 73 or higher. If you fail the first seminar you can repeat it just like the other classes. The issue is you are not prepared for what they are going to give, they give you other software programs which you are not tested on almost like a distraction. They gave us Kaplan and UWorld but then gave us a JC exam, made us register for ATI on the morning of the 2nd exam, we didn't know we were taking ATI along with other faculty members, the dean of the school did not know she was upset that morning but still proceeded to give us that exam. The 3rd was HESI in which we never did HESI before and also had to register for that before the exam, we bombed that place exam and here most of us are. Removed from the program. So now the only choice so far we have is transfer to another school.
I know exactly what you are talking about. I am feel the same way as you. Jersey school in Tampa don't want to prepare us for our real exam and expecting us to pass. We just go by luck ....if you out of luck, you are on your own...they don't give a *** a bout us. ...excuse my language but that how I feel. The Florida commission told me that they will save my complaints for future record when they audit the school. I encourage everyone should file complaint to Florida educational commissioner so they can see this is ongoing issues with the school. School took our money and careless about help us to achieve our goal.

I was told by the school after failing my HESI. They reach out to the president of the school and was told by the president that since I pass the NCLEX they give me another chance to retake the whole nursing program. That's is not a choice for me. I have no choice but to write a letter to commissioner and if it not work out I will be sending letter to ACEN.
How long did it take for the president to reach back out to you?
Nurse SMS said:A lot of schools have an exit exam. The reasoning for this is that if you cannot pass the exit exam while the information is still fresh in your mind, you are unlikely to pass the NCLEX. Students that graduate and go on to take the NCLEX and fail reflect badly on the success rate of the school and its ranking.
This has gone on for a very long time. I honestly doubt there is anything you can do to fight it. Honestly, even if you were to win, the NCLEX would still be the deciding factor and failing HESI is a good indicator of how you would probably do. Rather than going to war against your school, consider going in to chat with them about what you need to do to graduate and move on.
It may be dependent on the state- but I recall learning about a law that prohibited nursing from holding an earned diploma based on an exit exam. I'm sure they find ways around it but their not supposed to because it artificially inflates NCLEX pass rates.
These kind of exit of exams are called a 'predictor', as such they give you further guidance on what to study (holes in your education). Also, they give the faculty information where there are 'holes' in the educational program. I can see where a crappy program would use it as a restricted gateway to graduation. In previous years. the pass rate for continuing approval in Florida was the requirement for staying at least at or above 10% lower than the national pass rate. For example, National Pass rate was 82% - the school was considered good to achieve a combined score from graduates at 77% or even 73%.
I truly hate that you have to achieve a certain score to graduate..
Please provide counseling to your friends/coworkers about going to this type of program
Re Carleen school Nightingale Fraud. People keep saying Students should look on the Florida Board of Nursing for qualified Nursing School. What the Florida Board of Nursing is not telling people is that Carleen School was listed on their website. Some student did there hours of theory did clinical hours so because they messed up the students suffers. SMH.

What is your next step may I asked?. If you find any solution please give us update. Thanks. I try everything but come back with no solution. As you already see my update. I hope the nursing commission can do something to stop this school from using exit exam to prevent student graduate. It is sad to hear more student in the same situation like me. This new rule only applies to New Jersey state not in Florida. I hope Florida board of nursing can applied the same as New Jersey board of nursing. This way all student get opportunity to graduated. Don't ever let they think if you can't pass exit exam. You can't pass NCLEX. NCLEX is much easier than school exam. Did the school give you options to start long audit program?
