Jersey College in Tampa - Fail exit exam

Published

Hi, anyone know what to do if you fail exit exam from Jersey college in Tampa? I have a friend told me to write complained to department of independent education to let them know. I finished the whole nursing program including clinicals and was holding back from graduated due to fail HESI exit exam.

I just want student out there to know my story before signing up with Jersey college. They have multiple locations in Florida and new Jersey as well. So please be aware...

Understand your explanation.  You are caught in situation where because you were  unable to pass HESI, transfered your credits to a FL approved but unaccredited school -many offering a "completion course" permitting graduation, submission to NCLEX and upon passage able to obtain FL license.   So you went back to Jersey College showing that you passed NCLEX so you could get diploma from an ACEN accredited school --but they won't help.    No way should you have to take entire nursing program again, they should allow you to re-enroll to take leadership class.

To obtain a state license in NY/Texas, they are requiring graduation from an accredited FL nursing school post Operation Nightingale fraud, so understand your desire to get accredited ASN from Jersey College.

I would write to the OWNER of the college  + definitely write to ACEN and FL Dept Education re your predicament.  Don't know if money spent on a lawyer would help.

Keep us updated.

I did send a letter to Florida education commissioner. I will send letter to ACEN as well. Thanks for your advise. I will keep you post it.

Yes. I agreed with you. Lawyer would not help. I did try to reach out to school and asking for owner but they won't release any information to me. I was told by the school after failing my HESI. They reach out to the president of the school and was told by the president that since I pass the NCLEX they give me another chance to retake the whole nursing program. That's is not a choice for me. I have no choice but to write a letter to commissioner and if it not work out I will be sending letter to ACEN.

Since ACEN is conducting an accreditation review, it would be helpful for them to know that  this nursing program using HESI exit exam failure to deny graduation.

Best wishes in establishing a nursing career.

I am in the same boat. I was just handed my dismissal from the school this past week. I was one point away from passing from my second attempt at taking seminar. I am left with nothing but $30k in the hole. Christina can you please tell me what school you were able to transfer credits to take the NCLEX. At this point I don't even care about their degree I just want my RN license.

NrsKarenRN,BSN,RN do you know of any schools that offer "completion courses". I've tried looking it up but am coming up empty.

Deelovely, I think is better for you to write a letter to the education commissioner file complaint about the school.  That's way they will do their own investigation on school. I did write mine. Same thing happen in New York where Jersey college operates the same way and the New York education commissioner issues school to stop using HESI as a way holding students from graduate due to many complaints files against school.

Together we can make some changes.

ALERT to PA residents:  Jersey College is opening a new program outside Philadelphia, PA and has one in Scranton.

Be advised how this company is operating re HESI testing  in last nursing course per posters here.

Updated Jersey college demand that I have to repeat long audit which I refused therefore they withdraw me from school. Now I left with nothing. They use their policy and agreement that was sign by me to support their documents. Be aware don't be like me, read the whole policy before you sign up with school. If I can turn back the time I wish I will never attend jersey college...they will not go extra miles for you....is all about money....so be careful. I wish that no one will never be in this situation. I have  some of student from Jersey college  contacted  me and asking for help. But there is nothing I can do or advise them since we are in the same situation. I am giving up with this school. I am  hoping with this post will help future nursing student choose better nursing school before signing up.

I also just failed the seminar class at Jersey College May 2023 along with 19+ other students, which a tremendous pill to swallow after completing 18 months. They gave an ATI exam as the 2nd exam in which we the students weren't aware of, we had never done ATI during our time at this institution in fact,  we were notified about taking an ATI exit while waiting for our exam code. They made us the students register for ATI while the dean and the day coordinator were not made aware that we were taking this exam. they argued with an instructor about while we were waiting on instructions on what to do. We took it to the best of our ability. 3rd exam was HESI. They knew there was an error when they gave the ATI so they gave us the heads up about the HESI exam a week before, which is definitely not enough time to grasp HESI's style of questions just like ATI, but choice did we have, we took it and prayed for the best. Now, we are terminated from the program with no resolve. On January 3, 2022, at 54 N.J.R. 87(a), the Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of Consumer Affairs, State Board of Nursing adopted a new rule regarding exit examinations. This rule requires that nursing programs administer a comprehensive examination at the end of the program. This exam shall not affect the students' ability to graduate or take a licensing exam. See adopted N.J.A.C. 13:37-1.21.
