Jefferson FACT 2008 applicants?

Published

Hello all,

I just wanted to start a thread for the Jefferson FACT 2008 applicants. First, I want to say that the Jefferson application process is fabulous. Keep in mind that I live in Philadelphia. I submitted the online application last Sunday night and mailed my application materials (i.e. transcripts, recommendations, etc) on Monday. They were signed for by Tuesday, then Wednesday I recieved a notice saying they are still waiting for the materials I sent. I, of course, called Jefferson on Thursday, and they confirmed having my application materials but had not put them in the system. By Friday, I received an email requesting an interview and an attachment in an Excel file listing all my coursework, a breakdown of my overall GPA, Science GPA, and Prerequisite GPA. They also highlighted the courses I had not completed yet. Needless to say, I am impressed with their organization.

Is anyone else applying the Jefferson FACT or even the APW program? Has anyone interviewed for the FACT program? Any advice on the interview or pogram would be great.

Byrd,

I also applied to the FACT program for the summer start of 08'. I sent in my supporting material last week and have not heard anything yet. I called to see if they had arrived but I don't think they had updated them in the computer. Do you know if they will do phone interviews? I am half-way across the country and I would hate to have to fly for a 2 hour interview, especially right after the holidays! I have already been accepted to one school in Chicago (Loyola) and I am waiting to hear back from Columbia (my first choice). I have not really given TJU a lot of thought, but I like the fact that they have a few CRNA programs in Philly. Good luck to you and I will let you know if I hear anything.

Thanks Scott. I don't know if they are doing phone interviews. I did not even know that they did interviews :uhoh21:. I was hoping for a quick rejection or acceptance. With that being said, You should call and ask, because you would need to plan ahead. I would assume that they would grant this option for those as far away as you though. Good luck to you too.

Byrd,

I have applied to the FACT program and also received a request for an interview - which I set up for this Friday, actually. I'll let you know how it goes!

I also got an email today about setting up an interview. There were some of my courses that I took that they have to review to see if they will count for my stats and nutrition, and I will base whether or not I will fly out to Philly for an interview. Good luck to you guys. Hope all goes well.

Thanks JerseyGirl. I would really appreciate that. My interview isn't until January. I forgot to ask Danielle if it is a panel interview (i.e. 2-4 other faculty/administration people) or one-on-one. For some reason it makes me feel better to know that prior to the interview. GOOD LUCK to you. You are lucky to get this over with before the holiday madness.

Hi JerseyGir1,

How was the FACT interview?

Byrd-

The interview went well. Pretty informal - I just spoke with Danielle in her office and answered some basic questions about why I was interested in the program, what I know about the profession, etc. She also told me a lot of details about the program herself. I'll let you know when I hear from them... sounded like they make a quick decision at this point (of course I'm not sure when to expect an answer with the holidays and all).

What other programs have you applied to? I've definitely done my research and looked all over the country, but I kept coming back to Jefferson. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for the info. I can't wait until my interview. Approximately how long did your interview last? I applied to Columbia, Yale, Hopkins, UNC Chapel Hill and Vanderbilt.

I have my interview at Jefferson on the 18th of January and I think it is going to be pretty informal. I talked to Danielle on the phone and she seems to be pretty laid back. I asked what the dress code was and she said "casual", so I don't plan on wearing a suite or anything like that. Byrd, did you go to an info session at Columbia? Good luck to you guys.....

Well good news guys... I received an email from Danielle yesterday saying I was accepted to the program. That was less than a week from my interview (and Christmas was in between)! Byrd- The interview was about a half hour long from what I remember. I wore typical job interview attire, but again, it was very informal. Hint: During the interview she asked me to tell her about something interesting I read lately. That was the only question I wasn't expecting. I came up with something, but it might be nice to have something in mind going in... I hope that's not cheating :uhoh3:

Good luck, and keep me posted.
