Jeff State Summer 2009 Hopefuls

Published

Hey guys!

Since the spring applicants are recieving acceptance letters, I thought it would be about time to make a Summer '09 thread so we can all get to know each other and hopefully have some friends before school starts. Maybe we should tell a little about ourselves?

Starting in the Summer scares me(it's so much work!), but it's really my only option. I'm very very dedicated and I will do everything I can to make sure I'm successful in my courses. I don't have a job or a family to take care of so hopefully I'll be able to studystudystudy! I won't be taking any classes in the Spring because I'll have all my points(200, if I can pass math with an A or a B) so I'm going to volunteer my time with TEARS... it's an animal rescue and rehabilitation nonprofit company.

I am so excited to start nursing school!

maybe, miraculously they will have hired some new instructors, acquired some more clinical spots from the state and can accept more people. In my opinion something they should have managed to better balance the drop outs that seem to happen in the first few semesters or those who REALLY want in uab, apply to JS as a 2nd and then get in both so do not accept there JS spot.

Just my opinion!

and wishful thining!

They should have assigned a temporary pre-nursing advisor so they could have gotten all of our applications processed and let us know something! I just checked the mail and had a letter from JS. It was a stupid letter letting me know when advising week was! Geez, they shouldn't do that to us! I was getting excited when I saw it!

Hahaha bfeemster! The exact same thing happened to me just a few minutes ago. I agree, though, they should have assigned someone else to help. I'm so frustrated!

So... I just heard a rumor about someone hearing that the letters are coming out...

The second week of April. :banghead:

That sucks! Where did you here that?

I talked to a friend of mine who graduated from JS and she told me that it would be a good idea to start learning the dosing calculations! She gave me this website www.dosagehelp.com to help me! I tried it and it is really great! Y'all should try it! It kinda takes the edge off of waiting for the letter to come! LOL

Kool! Ty for posting the link to that website on dosage info-that's very helpful! I got my letter that states when open registration is going to occur... If the letters go out the second week of April, that would put us receiving them during open registration. :(

I am keeping my fingers (and toes:wink2:) crossed that we get the letters by the end of next week! Last time I talked to Ms. Johnson she said that they would go out next week (16th-22nd)! I REALLY want to know so I can be buying everything that I can without breaking the bank!

That sucks! Where did you here that?

I heard it from a friend. Of course, it's totally a rumor so I bet you're right about them going out next week! That would be great! I just hope they get here before next Saturday (the 21st). I'm going on a cruise over spring break and I'd hate to miss out on my letter while I'm gone.

Thanks so much for the dosage calculation link, I'm excited to start learning those. I think those calculations are the scariest part of nursing school!

Have fun on your cruise! No problem! If you follow the tutorial they are pretty simple.

The 16th - the 22nd? This is going to be the longest weekend ever!!

The last I heard, yes, they should go out next week. It will be a long weekend. Every day next week I will stalk the mailman. I'm pretty sure he is ready for that letter to get here. He probably either thinks I'm crazy or that I have a MAJOR crush on him! LOL...he almost 70!
