Jeff State Summer 2009 Hopefuls

Hey guys!

Since the spring applicants are recieving acceptance letters, I thought it would be about time to make a Summer '09 thread so we can all get to know each other and hopefully have some friends before school starts. Maybe we should tell a little about ourselves?

Starting in the Summer scares me(it's so much work!), but it's really my only option. I'm very very dedicated and I will do everything I can to make sure I'm successful in my courses. I don't have a job or a family to take care of so hopefully I'll be able to studystudystudy! I won't be taking any classes in the Spring because I'll have all my points(200, if I can pass math with an A or a B) so I'm going to volunteer my time with TEARS... it's an animal rescue and rehabilitation nonprofit company.

I am so excited to start nursing school!

I just have to say....

I want my letter!!!

I pray every day that they magically decided to send them out early, even though I know they would never do that (late is so much more Jeff State's style).

Hey everyone! I am not applying to Jeff State, as i just graduated from CACC, but a good friend of mine is, so i would like a little input for her..her points total 199, which i think is awesome, and she should have no problem..in reality, with those points, as well as scoring 99 on her entrance exam, should she have any problems getting in?? When letters start arriving, please keep me posted so i can let her know about when she should start stalking the mailman!

As long as she has a decent GPA (2.5 for the past 24 hours of undergrad work... that's the minimum, though), I don't see why she won't make it! But with Jeff State, you really don't know until that letter is in your hands!

I too apllied for Summer 09. When I turned in my application, they told me that we should receive a letter around the end of Feb./beginning of March. Hopefully we will hear something in the next couple of days. My husband laughs at me because I have started "stalking" the mailman. LOL

Hey guys! I called Jeff State today and asked when we will receive our letters. She told me that it would be 2 more weeks. :banghead: Just thought I would share with you guys. BTW, did anyone else on here apply for the Jefferson Campus?

Hi! I applied for the Jefferson Campus.... I also heard that there are usually 2 ppl that go through the applications and that one of the two is out on med leave.. so it may be a bit longer... :crying2:

Ms. Johnson was out on maternity leave until 2 days ago, but she's back now. I spoke with her today.

i called today. they said the have no idea, even what the point cut off was yet. letters may not go out until April. This seems terrible that it takes them so long. I do not think that other schools have this problem.

i actually drove from the montevallo area..45 miles one way..it was definitely a time consuming drive and even more so when it came to clinicals, which until the last two semesters were usually in alex city, anniston, sylacauga, and talledega. I loved CACC though. I was in the delayed program, because the fewer classes at a time helped out so much having three little kids at home (they were 4, 2 and 8 months when i started). It was a 7 semester program instead of 5, and after the first two semesters, i only had one class at a time. I felt i learned a lot, and it was a much smaller class than the regular class (we graduated with 13). I had a great 1 on 1 relationship with the instructors and they were extremely helpful with anything i needed. If i had to do it again, i would choose to go there! although, like i beleive all programs are, there were issues that could have been better, problems with scheduling and fitting us all into clinicals, and some disorganization of the program as a whole..but excellent experience overall!

Thank you for the input on CACC. I am using it for my backup if I cannot get in JS with 190 pts. I'm about 15 min from JS and even closer to all of the big hospitals in Bham. About 40 minutes from CACC. Driving the 40 minute for class is one thing, but I just wish you could get clinicals in Birmingham....Do you have a choice?? Can you do clinicals in Birmingham???
