Jeff State Summer 2009 Hopefuls

Published

Hey guys!

Since the spring applicants are recieving acceptance letters, I thought it would be about time to make a Summer '09 thread so we can all get to know each other and hopefully have some friends before school starts. Maybe we should tell a little about ourselves?

Starting in the Summer scares me(it's so much work!), but it's really my only option. I'm very very dedicated and I will do everything I can to make sure I'm successful in my courses. I don't have a job or a family to take care of so hopefully I'll be able to studystudystudy! I won't be taking any classes in the Spring because I'll have all my points(200, if I can pass math with an A or a B) so I'm going to volunteer my time with TEARS... it's an animal rescue and rehabilitation nonprofit company.

I am so excited to start nursing school!

Hi, I am hoping to be accepted to the Summer 09 group. I have got to go talk to the counselor and see if I have a chance. So don't know for sure if I can even apply, but I'm hoping to apply and be accepted.

:nurse:E're E're! I'm applying for my 3rd time. Which kills me, because after this semester I'll have 200 points, as long as I succeed in making an A in both my classes, which I am expecting.

The up-side (as i generally try to find shortly after I've grumped about a bit) is that I can finish my one remaining pre-req, which is Micro. I'll be doing that at Shelby campus, since it's the only one that had a class scheduled at a time that I wouldn't have to take a major hours cut at work.

I'm a believer that God has a reason to put me in a specific nursing school class, so here's hoping the summer won't be TOO brutal!

I talked to the adviser yesterday. Cut off for Shelby was 185, Jefferson was 183. For Spring. Apparently it is getting higher every semester. She also mentioned that there is some talk of changing the requirements for Fall 09 but did not have any idea what those changes would be. They have changed to where your GPA is only counted from your last 25 credit hours. BUT GPA still doesn't really even count if you don't have the min points.

YES I am applying for summer 09---I have 180 points...but you just never know. I am taking bio 103 this semester to get my pts up...but cannot count that till fall app.

ANY ADVISE on which campus is preferable (IF I were to actually get a choice!!!), Jefferson (pinson) vs Shelby????

Good luck, Magnolia!

I've heard pretty much the same things out of both campuses-- I personally am about 15 minutes from the Jefferson campus, so I'm sticking with it!

Does anyone know when we'll start getting letters?

Does anyone know when we'll start getting letters?

Last semester people began to get letters about a month after the due date. Hopefully we'll get them a little more quickly than that since the Summer term typically gets less applicants. I'm so nervous!

so when should we start stalking the postman?

I applied this year for the Summer 2009 program, and one of the advisors at the Shelby campus said "hopefully" they will send out letters the first week in March, so I would save yourself (and your postman...haha) the stress and don't even sweat it till Mid-March. :-D

Any estimation as to what the cut off will be for summer 2009? The next few weeks can't pass quickly enough-I just want to know if I got in..lol

Cut off last semester was 185--highest it's ever been, and they said it keeps climbing every year so I'm almost positive it will be in the 188-189 range

please don't say that...lets hope it stays around 183-185!!!!!

For those of us who already have degrees and do not want to have to PAY to re-take ALL of our science classes to get our b's (from UAB---which I consider a very good grade) up to A's...and cannot AFFORD to go to UAB for the second degree program!!!!!!

ok, I am venting!!!!based on my personal situation!!!!

good luck to all!
