Jeff State Spring 2011 Hopefuls

Published

I haven't seen one on here yet...so I wanted to start a thread for those applying for Spring 2011 at Jeff State. Everything seems so much more stressful now that you don't really know where you stand. Before they changed the point system, you generally knew where you stood. Now that they have add the TEAS V, it seems like you have no clue! So anyone applying...please respond! Thanks and good luck!

Okay I have made my decision...I'm going to be with all of you at Jeff State! Looking forward to it!

Yay! See you Tuesday:)

Hey, my name is Emily and I got accepted into the Jefferson Campus for Spring. Is anyone else going to the Jefferson Campus? Also the date of orientation depends on the campus. Shelby is the 16th and Jefferson is the 15th. But the letter says that you need to bring $43.00 to pay for drug screening. Congrats to all that have been accepted and I can wait to meet all my new classmates :)

Thanks for letting us know about that fee Emily. I got the call Friday but haven't gotten a letter yet.

Congrats Emily... I got accepted to the Shelby campus, and my letter says nothing about bringing any money for fees of any kind. It says we will be informed of any fees at orientation. So I called and asked and they told me all I needed was insurance card, CPR certification card (if you already have it), and advised to bring a pen and notebook to take down any info not handed out. Maybe the Jefferson campus does the drug screening on site during orientation, and that's why you have to bring the money for it....IDK. Anyone else got their letter from Shelby campus yet or any current students know if the Shelby orientation is different?

Mine said it on a red quarter sheet of paper where it also talked about bringing the insurance card and CPR certification. It may just be the Jefferson campus because when I talked to Bonnie Glass Self when I got my phone call I asked her if I needed to bring anything to orientation and she said no, but then when i got the letter it talked about the insurance and CPR card and $43.00. It never hurts to have it just in case. Jeff State isan't really known for having their stuff together, if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean about "having their stuff together"...LOL. Yeah my Shelby acceptance letter had a "green" quarter page insert telling us what to bring, and it just says we will be informed of the fees at orientation, and only about bringing insurance and CPR cards. So sounds like they might do things a little different at the Jefferson campus. Maybe they send the Shelby students to a testing facility, and Jefferson students test on campus. I know from working for State Farm for several years that there are numerous drug screening facilities around here, and maybe there aren't as many out near the Jefferson campus; so it's just a conveinence thing for you guys.

By insurance card, do you mean our health insurance card?

Yes, Health insurance card.

Correct health insurance card.... They also said if you don't have a CPR certification card yet that's okay, but advised to go ahead and start looking into getting an appointment with somewhere (fire station, redcross) to go ahead and get it done.

i had to miss the orientation at the jefferson campus, because my son was home sick with a stomach virus.

one of the ladies in the nursing office set aside a packet for me to pick up, but i just wanted to know how it went and what were the highlights?

thanks in advance for your responses.

When it says General Science Building, I'm guessing that means the General Studies Building...not the Health Sciences Building (orientation). If anyone sees this before tomorrow, let me know! Thanks.
