January 2014 intake Practical Nursing

World Canada CA Programs

Hello everyone!

I'm new to this form as I am trying to get into January 2014's intake in Practical Nursing!

I am pretty nervous since I'm not sure if I will make it this year since I did graduate high school 4 years ago but I did do a victory lap for a year in upgrading my chemistry mark with additional mathematics courses. However in the end I didn't actually go to pursue the science field in University instead I went for a BA in Psychology.

For Practical nursing I have applied to: Sheridan College, George Brown, and Centennial College (Flex); I have already done my HOAE test at Sheridan College as it is an admission requirement for Sheridan, however I was told I wouldn't get my test scores! This is so nerve wrecking!

Also, as I am asking for advice here, I was just wondering if anyone give me some advice/let me know the chances of getting into this program with the following high school marks: 12U English - 70, 12U Chemistry - 89, 12U Adv. Functions- 78, 12U Data Management - 95, 12U Calculus - 88, 11U Bio - 71, 12U Philosophy - 77. GPA in University was a 3.7. I know my high school marks aren't the greatest at all, but any advice/opinion will help relief my stress!

Also anyone here applying for Practical Nursing for January intake :)?

Thank you everyone :)!

Well, I got into Pre-Health at Fanshawe for January and I'm really excited about it. I'm going to accept the offer once it shows up on my OCAS page. This was totally not what I saw for myself in January, but I'm really happy about it. I'm going to work my butt off to get a really high GPA so that I can apply for my BScN in 2015 and get a spot. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!!

Hi all,

Unfortunately I did not get an acceptance into the George Brown program either. I was crushed when I read "no offer" on STU-view, it took me about 24 hours to get over the shock of it. lol I was happy to read the advice given on this forum and have applied for the Pre-Health program at George Brown and Georgian. I am with you klovesedamame, this is not what I saw for myself in January either. The good news is that I can still accomplish my goal of becoming an RN, I will just have to take a different path to get there.

I hope everyone gets the good news they are looking for, if not try not to stress there is always a way! :)

Hi Everyone, I'm new at this post. I've applied to George Brown for Jan 2014 but i'm still rushing to finish my two pre-requisites, I came in very late. How late can I send them my marks ? Before they fill up the space ? . My other option is Sheridan but since it requires the HEAO test, i'm not even going to bother. Plus I hear George Brown is a better for health care. I am curious tho, why don't they do the HEAO testing ? isn't it mandatory by all the collages ? I find that a bit odd.

Also, do they have a May intake as well ? If I can't make it for Jan then my back up will be May.

Any advice guidance would be appreciated.

lyndsbenson - I was crushed too when I saw no offer. I cried about it for a long time. I was so sure this was my time, and to see no offer was really hard. I hope that you hear from George Brown about pre-health. Is this the only place you're looking to go? I suggest applying to Fanshawe Pre-Health if you want a back up. I applied and was accepted into the program two days later. I went to Fanshawe's open house a few years back and I really liked the the sound of their pre-health program so I've decided to go there.

We're still going to be RN's one day, you're right! We're just taking a bit of a different path.

mary1234567 -This happened to me last January. I was actually waitlisted. You just have to get them done, and have them submitted to OCAS who will then submit them to George Brown. Because I hadn't finished them, they offered me a spot on the waitlist, but I had to get them done and send in the marks. Well, I didn't get them done, so I didn't end up getting anywhere with the waitlist. So if they like you based on the marks of yours they DO have, don't fret. They could offer you a spot on the waitlist and then tell you to just get them done and submit them :)

I dont think they have a May start. Just September and January. Pre Health has a May start.

I applied to Georgian and got accepted into their pre-health program. After reading your post this morning I decided to look into other schools and expand my options. My major concern is the distance of some of these schools. I would have to move an hour or further and I haven't accounted for that in my "back to school" budget. I guess its not a big deal, I just never considered it in the past.

Congratulations on your acceptance to Fanshawe! I am happy to see that you are happy with this choice and the sound of their program. Everything will work out for the best.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say don't get discouraged if you don't hear back from George Brown for awhile. I got accepted for January 2013 and didn't receive the acceptance letter until November 8th! Good luck!

Thanks for sharing that :) Were you on the waitlist before you were accepted? If so, do you know what position you were on it?

klovesedamame- I applied to Fanshawe and got accepted! I have decided to accept their offer cause I prefer Western to York. Also, I still haven't heard anything from George Brown or Mohawk.

Maybe we'll have some classes together come January!

have you heard anything from George Brown yet for pre-health?

Hi paola15,

I just received my offer of admission for Pre-Health in George Brown today. If you haven't recieved any offer yet, it is better to send them an email as a follow up. That's what I did last Tuesday since my status was 'NO DECISION' until this morning.

I am hoping you get the offer same as the other applicants waiting.

Good luck!

John

Hey ambrr,

I stopped checking OCAS in late September last year because I pretty much gave up hope on GB, so I'm not sure if it said "waitlisted" on my account...I'm pretty sure they don't tell you what position you are in, just that you're waitlisted.
