Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.
We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?
Don't be shy. Don't lurk. Share your thoughts.

You will need to take chemistry it's a pre req to microbiology. But will not be calculated into the nursing GPA
MICROBIOLOGY IS A GRADUATION REQUIREMENT.
I STRONGLY suggest you complete microbiology before you start the program. PLEASE
If you decide to get A BSN after you finish the program I suggest you take STATISTICS as your general ed math class most RN TO BSN PROGRAMS REQUIRE STATISTICS.
Look at previous posts about South campus and Dr. S. I consider her ridiculous and that campus unfair.
Yea I heard about someone being like a minute late... And she said "see you next semester". She dropped that person from their courses. They had to sit out a whole semester for being late. But you know at the pre admission meeting, the lady did say 15 min early is on time and being on time is late. So who's fault is it? I'm taking my chances and going to south I'm a very dedicated student, and even if everyone says south is the toughest campus I'd rather go there. they are tough on you for a reason. I'm just gonna work extra hard, and hopefully I come out a great nurse from all the HARD WORK! Lol give 110%.

Don't blame the student when she was as dedicated as you say you are. Things happen and I've been late even though I left 30 minutes prior. The toughness there isn't to help you, sorry to say. It should be equal in all three campuses but it's not. Try talking to students who ARE at South and they all say it's hell. Nursing school is tough but that is ridiculous. My bf failed GIGU by ONE point and was basically told to retrack even though he was never late or missed class and was an integral part of the class. Meanwhile, my campus will give one or two points IF they have seen progress in your exams and haven't missed class or been late. North is the same. South? Not so. Don't exclude yourself just yet. You haven't even BEGUN to experience PROCESS where HALF the people you saw at the meeting will most likely disappear.

But I've also spoken to some people at south they say they love it. I've also heard central is hell as well. and I always hear good things about North. But I guess everyone is different, it all depends on the individual. I remember being told to stay away from certain professors while taking pre reqs but I took them anyway and got "A" s. Everyone is different one campus might benefit one person and hurt the other. I would love to go to central trust me that was my first choice, but I can't afford it. the clinicals are extremely far...I live in Aventura it took me over 30 min to get to central, imagine how much longer for clinical sights. I wanna save as much money I can in the program, I might have to quit my job. But how is your boyfriend doing now at south if you don't mind me asking did he pass GIGU second time around?
