J. Sargeant Reynolds RN Program 2012-2013

Hey Everybody!

I was curious to know if anyone else applied to the JSR RN program for the Fall 2012. Would you be willing to post your stats??? (GPA, Kaplan scores, etc). I feel very blessed b/c I orginally thought I'd missed the deadline but one evening while I was surfing the web I saw where JSR had extended their deadline...I was able to make it to the last information session, May 7th...and I took the Kaplan test all on the same day (Passed!) and applied to the program the following week.

My stats are a 3.8 GPA, 89% Math and 86% Reading (ran out of time)...not the greatest scores but I can't complain...I had no time to study before taking the test...oh yeah and a pre-req GPA of 3.5 (receive B's in my A&P courses and a 'C' in ENG 111) with no previous degree.

Anyone else out there on the waiting train to hear back from JSR nursing dept???

Yea, I know I shouldn't worry! I'll post if I hear anything! Thanks so much for keeping me posted :). If you want to facebook me I'm under Leigh Anne in Hanover, VA ( no last name, I try to keep it semi-private) That way you can put a name with a face :)

I don't have a Facebook I tweet ...lol my twitter is @aprilslife1 I'm also on the school press center they just wrote a article on me.

Ahhh I don't have Twitter. I made one a while back, but have no idea how to work it. I found the article on the press center. You have so many amazing accomplishments. You really are a wonder woman. So amazing! JSR is so lucky to have such a well-rounded woman in their nursing program. You're going to make an amazing RN ( and eventually NP). :)

Thanks hun! I'm very humble and always ready to give to anyone that's needs help. If ever you should need a helping hand don't hesitate to ask! You are also going to be an amazing RN!

Email [email protected] I'm always connected my phone sends alerts when I get emails....I live off faith so I know you have no reason to fear anything :-)

Hey guys...was just checking in...I see you guys posted a pic so I figured I'd do the same. Would be nice to stay in touch, never know when we may see each other in the future. I don't have a facebook page but now that you mentioned it, I may start one with no last name...to keep it private. My classmates @ NOVA just created a facebook page for our new class...I really wish you guys all the best. :)

Hey aprincess! Good luck in your fall program once again. Yea I don't have a Facebook but I do tweet...I hope your program goes smoothly and you do well. So have you contacted Jrs and told them your not accepting there program? Also my email address is [email protected] that's to make sure we keep in touch;-)

Hey! It's been so nice to go through all of this with y'all. We need to keep in touch!!

Aprincess- They 'make' you put a last name on facebook, but I just put my middle name in as my last that way if an not one can search for me using my full name. I like to think it keeps things somewhat private :). Good luck with the NVCC program!

I will post as soon as I hear something!! Hopefully soon, but they said they have been known to contact people on the first day of classes. I took my boys in for a tour of the school that they will be going to...eeeekkk now I just need for them to let me in officially!

They will be going to school at the same time you will be in your nursing classes ;-) so I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the 1st day school for the boys! I'm also looking forward to study groups with you, I & who ever else wants it as badly as we do!

Yes!! Study groups are a MUST. I've been emailing every hospital to see if there are any potential NICU/PCN volunteer oppertunities. I know that that isn't typical because it's critical care, but I do have a few connections in the NICU since both of my kids were there for so long :). Hopefully I hear some good news from them :).

That's a good step in the right direction ;-) I haven't decided what area I want to concentrate in yet, but I eventually want to have a general practice so I really want to be apart of every area.....lol I also love the emergency room so I may spend some time in the ER @ MCV. That's my true calling emergency medicine.

I agree. Since you want to do GP learning every area is a must! You never know our clinical rotations may surprise us and change our minds.

I've wanted to do neonatal since I was in high school. Then I got pregnant with my first son and had him at 28 weeks gestation. He spent almost 3 months in the NICU at Henrico Doctors. After that experience I knew it was what I was meant for. Then I got pregnant with my second son, after 15 weeks of bed rest and a lot of pre-term labor scares I delivered at 35.5 weeks. I was so happy to make it that far and thought there might be a chance for him to come home with me right away. Though he was a very large and healthy 7 lbs, he came out not breathing and wasn't able to breathe on his own ( even though I had betamethazone injections) so back to the NICU we went. He was only there for a week, but after those experiences I just new I had found my "calling".

Was there something that "pushed" you into nursing? I love hearing the "Why I knew I wanted to be a nurse" stories.
