If this has already been posted somewhere, please direct me (I couldn't find anything)

Any one else here applying for fall? If so, I'd like to see how we stack up. Two months of waiting is going to drive me crazy!

My overall GPA is 3.5, the GPA of my pre-nursing requisites is 3.8, and my kaplans are:

95 reading

96 math

81 writing

55 science

admission score 81.9 points

Yes- I met with the ODU rep about pursuing a concurrent BSN....problem is I have to find out if I'm in the RN program first lol

@Zackaroni - The debt to potential income ratio of student loans and RN income is a huge factor. I've often wondered if it's worth the investment. I've often heard of hospitals paying for the BSN if the new grad agrees to obtain it within 3 years of hire. Hopefully we get something like that!

@mayss - Do you find it annoying that the ODU concurrent program requires so many other classes that we haven't taken at JSRCC? I understand taking those before graduation, but they make you take everything before even applying there! I think that's ridiculous. So I need to take 2 chems, microbiology, statistics, 2 foreign languages, history, and a few others before even being able to submit my app... Still haven't decided if it's worth it. What's concurrent about that? All you're doing is completing BSN courses through JSRCC then finishing it out with ODU... That can be done with almost any school!

That part hasn't really affected me because I have already taken them from my 1st bachelor's degree. If I were to do it, I would take 2 classes per semester in addition to the RN classes at JSCC (and I have most of the gen ed classes out of the way for the ADN). I've had a lot of schooling lol I graduated HS in 2003, BS in 2006, MS in 2009, and I went back for a yr of prerequisite 2012/13.

RjSmithTec, I agree that it's worth it to do the BSN program, but if I'm relying on loans, the maximum loan available doesn't cut it. I'd end up having to pay a few hundred a month out of pocket to make up the difference. Hopefully, there are still programs and employers out there willing to help with the cost of RN-BSN - I'd probably stay with a company like that for a long time if they did that for me.

I'm going to call tomorrow (Monday) to see what information is available. Someone in the admissions department told me they plan on sending the letters out on Thursday 7/3!

Just spoke with exactly who I needed to talk to. Letters will be mailed on July 3rd and theres nothing we can do to find out earlier than that.

So this of course makes me wonder if we'll receive (Richmond city) the letters by Saturday the 5th! >: )

Hooray for a definite date! I bugged them, too - haha!

I'm right down the road, so should definitely get the letter on Saturday. If not, I won't fret until after Monday's mail. Good luck to us all!

It's going to be a long week ha!

Sooooo not to get anyone too excited, but I just received confirmation from ODU that I'm in!!!!! The ODU rep said they recevied a list of students who have shown interest in the concurrent BSN program and will be receiving acceptance letters!!!

Specializes in CMSRN.

Congrats RjSmith! sooo exciting!!! :-)

Thank you!!! I received confirmation from admissions yesterday that I'm in. They're mailing acceptance packets today with the program offer. Based off of my understanding of how applicants were selected and the Kaplan, we should all be in! Unless people are lying about their scores ; ) GOOD LUCK!
