I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?
I posted in another thread about the IUPUI 2nd degree/accelerated BSN program...Did any of you consider that? The thing that most attracts me to it is there seems to be an emphasis on peds, like in your capstone you can focus on NICU or PICU and they do a lot of clinicals w/ Clarian, specifically @ Riley which is where I'd like to work when I'm an RN. Just wondering for you guys that are getting ready to start @ Ivy Tech or have been through it, do you get any clinical experience w/ pediatrics or @ Riley? I REALLY am interested in that so the more exp. I can get in school the better. Thanks in advance for your help, I'm anxious as usual :)
Melissa, that is exactly the idea I have been tossing around. I've heard they have a program at IUPUI that focuses on NICU. I haven't done a whole lot of research on it yet because it's so far away for me. NICU is where I want to end up after this school adventure is over.
They do, you can focus your Capstone on NICU or PICU, and you have an online class that would focus on your topic (either NICU, PICU, etc) prior to the clinical. NICU/PICU clinicals take place at Riley. My stepmom has worked at St. V (now Peyton Manning Children's) for almost 30 years and I will definitely be looking to be in NICU or possibly PICU. It just seems to far away, sometimes I get frustrated thinking that I will never realize my goal. It's nice that IUPUI's information is so readily available, you can see blocking schedules even for current students...IT is just so chaotic, IMO so far.
