My Boring Stats:

A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.

Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)

Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)

Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes :bugeyes:

I haven't received my letter either, Davilyn. = ) I am starting to lose excitement, and starting to get really annoyed. The deadline passed awhile ago. lol

Lennon---Thanks for your info about classes! I'm trying to figure out which math test you're talking about?? I guess I didn't realize we had math in the program, other than dosage calculations, etc. Is that the kind of math test you're talking about??

I keep getting Borders coupons in my e-mail and everytime I do, I run over there and get yet ANOTHER book about nursing! I'm trying to prep myself as much as I can so things make a little bit more sense while I'm in class. I did it before I took my ANPs and I really felt like it helped me! If you join the Borders Rewards program (basically just give them your e-mail) you will get these fab coupons---Just thought I'd put that out there! :D

I know I used to have Border's Reward coupons emailed to me, but I haven't received one in a looooong time! I might go over to my neighbor (who graduated ASN last year) and see what books she still has.

Csab, that's a great idea. I wish I knew someone who just finished the ASN program. I only know a few people around here interested in the program, but since they're still working on the pre-reqs, they get all of their books from ME!

There is certainly a lot of information to gather and work to do before the program starts, it is nice to hear how everyone is going about getting it all done, thanks for sharing! I am planning on calling the Health Department on Monday, hopefully they keep "slightly aged" immunization records :D

Make sure to check with your high school for vaccine records too. I got copies of mine from my high school and I graduated in 1998. The health dept. was also able to find a record of my shots that I had back in 1994 with them too (I lived in a different state previously, and this was the first time I had gotten shots in Indiana).

I was wondering if you could give the rest of us an idea of what it is like for you so far. Not really your schedule, just what to expect as far a studying. Do you seem to absorb what you are learning while you are in class, or is it like here is the material, go home and learn it? What are the lab test like? Do you do demostrations for the instructor, or are lab test written questions, or both? I know I am asking so many questions, but I just want to be a little prepared for what is to come.:D

We have lecture and group projects in place of lecture sometimes. Lab has some lecture and demonstrations as well. There's TONS of powerpoints for pretty much everything.

In lab we have to demonstrate skills for the teachers (skill check offs) and you have 1-2 chances to do it correctly for them to sign off on it (depends on the teacher) and we have written exams too. Lots of fill in the blanks on most tests.

In lecture classes, most teachers are pretty good about hitting the main points of the section that we're covering, but then we're responsible for reading the book and going over everything, whether it was gone over in lecture or not. If possible, it's good to have your reading done beforehand, but definitely make sure to do it all for the test. Most lecture tests are on scantron with the exception of fill in the blanks. I personally use lecture to get an idea of what to focus on and then I review it at home and make my own study sheets for the exams. It seems to be working out pretty well so far! I do most of my studying on the weekend, preparing for the next week. That way I don't have to do as much during the week, but everyone studies differently :)

I know the wait has been terrible for me. I had to move or re-sign my lease on Sept. 30th. I wanted to move to Terre Haute, so I emailed the chick that goes through the applications first and asked what I should do. She said "if I had a 204, I should be fine"--but she couldn't give me the final word. So I moved. I gave them my new address.

Fast forward to yesterday--The deadline to accept Bloomington's LPN program. Still no letter. I had someone (because I was too chicken at this point) call TH and ask about the letters. The letters/applications have still not gone through the Director of the program. They said MAYBE they would send them out sometime next week. They don't even have a Spring LPN program, so wasn't their due date the 30th for everyone? ::sigh::

THEN, I find out that the Bloomington acceptance letter confirmation was still packed somewhere, and I couldn't figure out where. SO I emailed them my confirmation--the Nursing person over there sent me back a crappy, rude email about how it doesn't count if I email it. it has to be mailed in. So I called her, and she finally relented, and said that she would count it. However, she declined to tell me the date and time of or what I needed to bring or have done by orientation.......so I guess that's up to me to figure out.

Wow, the Terre Haute program seemed SO together last semester. Now that I'm applying for real, I wonder if I just plan on going to Bloomington LPN, rather than Terre Haute RN (IF I ever find out)...

I'm so confused.

At least my Financial Aid $ finally cleared on Friday. From the 14th. After they had a mysterious "hold" on it, and never released it to Indy. But said it was fine the 40 times I called and the one OTHER time I went in.

Thanks for letting me vent. I'm just SO frustrated.

Wow that's a tough situation to be dealing with Amber. . . stinks that TH isn't really even close to having their info officially ready. What was your score for TH? I think it was a good idea for you to confirm Bloomington just to cover your bases. . . if in the meantime you get an acceptance letter for TH you can just not show up to Bloomington and they'll give your spot to an alternate, while you go to TH. Are you taking online Micro this term? I can't remember if you said you were or not. I am (thru TH) and I don't like it at all!

I am taking Micro through TH. I think I'm in H0G, and you were in H1G, if I remember correctly. My instructor is J.W. Is your big lab day on Oct. 31st?

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Micro myself. lol I just wish that there weren't so many ding-dang fill in the blanks, or proctored exams. I'd like to get an A in it, but I think it's more realistic that I will get a B. I've missed 25 pts, I think so far, out of the 79 or 80 that I can miss and still get an A....and I have three more exams, lab day, labs, quizzes, blah blah.

How is it turning out for you?

Yep I am in her class. She is quite terse I think. All her announcements are very LOUD AND SERIOUS WITH HER RED ALL CAPS LETTERS :uhoh3: I do have the lab day on the 31st. I messaged her just to politely ask if all sections had it that day, or if diff. sections had diff. days because if so I wanted to know if I could go to a different one. Not only is that Halloween, but my son also has a band gig that day and it would be easier on my husband if I was there to help with that (we have two other kids to cart along with the full drum set). Anyway, she sent me a message back that said No, that is the only lab day and she scheduled it that day because it was the only day that worked out. And that some people don't consider Halloween a holiday, and that she had sent out messages three times before class started notifying people of the lab date, (implying that I just didn't read them or something) and that if the date was a problem then I should have signed up for a different class. Well excuuuuuuse me for asking if any other sections might have a different day! Sheesh I didn't say I could not go on that day nor did I whine or complain. . . I simply politely inquired as to whether there were other lab days scheduled. I even said in my message that I figured that there were not but that I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Apparently my asking was a terrible thing.

As for micro itself, I just have a tough time understanding a lot of it. The lab this week pretty much went right over my head as to what I was really doing/why. I managed to get all the quiz points for the lab but only because I printed out all the text that went along with the lab to refer to. I did fine in online A&P 101 and 102 but I am wishing I would have taken micro in person.
