Ivy Tech Spring '10 Applicants

U.S.A. Indiana

This is the "Not In" thread, or for anyone that's planning on applying for Spring Semester by the Sept 1st deadline.

We need love too! :loveya:

My Boring Stats:

A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.

Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)

Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)

Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes

It's nice to meet you....whoever you are....

LOL I did Youtube labs too! I actually found a lot of little video animations that were quite helpful with class concepts, like with all that DNA/RNA stuff.

Yes this instructor's style is very 'hands off' only interacting if she has to. My 101 prof was much more involved and it felt like chatting with a friend a lot of the time because he was so casual. His DBs were much more interesting too. The ones this term are so straightforward textbook-ish.

I took Soc 111 and Comm 102 online last term and they only had online quizzes every week (plus discussion boards and papers). No proctored tests or any cumulative tests for that matter.

Math 118 online had several online quizzes and the homework of course, and had 2 proctored exams.

always have hope! someone emailed me the terre haute cut off numbers.

lpn – 196.5 – 178.3

rn – 217.1 – 193.0

the lpn start score was higher than the cut off for the rn program......that means that people could have gotten into the rn program, but didn't apply. (i think)

the campuses are so secretive about ranges. even if they change each semester, it's nice to have something to look at every now and then.

i should also mention that the ranges are subject to change, as people decline their acceptance.

Thanks for the feedback on the online courses! If I have to retake 102 this fall, I may go ahead and do it online. I am having some troubles figuring out what materials I should be focusing my time on for the tests/quizzes this Summer, perhaps doing online homework activities could alleviate that in the fall.

Hi everyone!

I am done with all prereq's with all A's so far and taking Micro at Indy campus in the fall along with dosage calculation online. I plan to apply to Indy, Greencastle and possibly Columbus in Sept for Jan 2010 start hopefully. I am going to retake the TEAS...only got a 79 on my first attempt so I gotta brush up on my science and math a little bit the next month and re-try. It's nice to have a place to meet others going through same stresses. :nuke: Anyone taken Micro at Indy campus? I heard the tests are in essay form. I'm wandering if I should have signed up to take online instead.

Hi crazylife2! I am signed up to take Micro online thru Terre Haute in the fall. I think I did hear that about Indy's micro with the tests being essays. Micro thru Terre Haute will have one day we have to drive there to do a lab day (on a Saturday I believe). I hope that class is okay, I'm kinda scared of it.

Hi MistyMiss,

Are you applying to the Program to start in Jan 2010?

I have been contemplating doing the same thing!

I called Columbus today & asked them if I retook one of my A&P classes in the fall, if they'd honor the new grade? They said they would not be able to since the deadline to Register is Sept 1 & the grades for Fall won't be out until December.

They said if I took the class in the Spring & applied for the Fall program, they would pull up & honor a new grade. (since there's a summer semester in between).

I don't know if all campuses are like that or not....I hate to see you spend the $ & not have it work out like you had hoped.

Hiya and TY!

Hopefully I will not have to retake it so that I can apply this September. :) It is my understanding that if pre-reqs are completed during the Fall 2009 semester, you can apply in April for the Fall 2010 program. Does that sound right?

Yes you are correct MistyMiss. Are you taking 102 right now? I am taking it online right now. Man it's a lot of work since it's the summer. If I didn't have to take it this summer (I want to apply in Sept) then I wouldn't have done it. Oh well, I'm plugging along in it. . .

Yes I am, "plugging along" describes it very well for the Lawrence campus summer session too! Lecture, homework, study.., Lecture, homework, study.., Lecture, homework, study, study, TEST! It goes so quickly and yet requires so much work :) When it is all said and done though, I am thinking we have made the right decision to take the crash summer course and get into the program in January.

I think that Micro class in Terre Haute is gonna be one big AN reunion! I'm signed up for it too....

What class are you in for fall? I'm in section H1G, CRN #24303. I'm also in online Chem 101 section 13B, CRN #25829 out ot S. Bend.
