Ivy Tech--INDIANA

Published

hey everyone! I am pretty new to using this website..well besides reading posts. I just graduated in December as a LPN and am wanting to get my RN (ASAP). I have researched some schools.. BallState for the LPN-BSN would take me 3-4 years--even with all my credits I already have! not to mention the lady i met with was so rude to me! :yuck: TCN is absolutely not a choice for me. I have looked into Excelsior, but being a brand new nurse without hospital experience (I work in a nursing home) I am not too sure about that with only 3 clinical days at the end. I've also looked into Harrison College in Indy (since they ARE accredited now)..but have not heard back from them, so not sure how long it takes etc. I read online that MedTech in Fort Wayne IS accredited for the RN program now..but I am still iffy about that too. WGU takes 2.5 years for the BSN and I don't want to take that long..I have about 98 college credits already.

Ivy Tech did not accept me for the LPN-ASN program in my region :o

From what I have heard they did not accept as many people due to losing teachers.. My number one choice would be to go back to Ivy tech because it is cheaper.

**Can anyone in Indiana tell me if their region offers the LPN-ASN transition in January 2014?! I think I missed the application deadline for fall 2013. I really do not want to wait until May 2014 to start the RN program...I wouldn't be a RN until May 2015 then :crying2:

Any replies and/or advice would be greatly appreciated! I would love to hear your experiences with any of these colleges/programs. Thanks!!

Have you looked into ISU's Lpn to Bsn program?

Have you looked into ISU's Lpn to Bsn program?

Yes, I met with an advisor last summer before I graduated about going there. He told me I could test out of some classes but the nursing ones I have to go at ISU's pace and it takes 4 years! So I decided against it because I don't really want to take that long :(

I have found out that Lawrence & Richmond have the LPN-ASN transition that starts in January--have to apply by September 1. :-D

If anyone knows of any other campuses that have this option please let me know! I want to have a good chance of getting in this time :)

Well it all depends on where u r in Indiana and how far you wanna travel to the campus. You can go on their website and find all the info you need. It will tell you what campus start LPN/RN in Jan. Just click on admissions then nursing..not practical nursing...go further down the page...to nursing associates degree and you can click on every individual campus to see deadlines. You just missed fall deadline....barely!!! Obviously u know that :)

Thank you! I have looked, but not all say if it's the transition or not, it just says the deadline. I am in Muncie and wouldn't mind to travel an hour or 2. :) I know I will be applying to Lawrence and Richmond and if I know of any others I will apply there too! thanks for the reply! :-D

I just got accepted to the transition in the Muncie region. They didn't lose any teachers that I know of. I just graduated from there a few years ago and as far as I know all the teachers are still there. They have always just started their transition in summer only in the east region. If anything just take your TEAS again, shoot for a higher score and reapply next time.

Congrats!! :) I graduated from the Anderson campus and I know they lost at least 1 teacher, but I wasn't sure of Muncie. I plan to take my TEAS again and I will reapply for the program for next May if I can't get into one in January. Thanks and good luck! :-D

Good luck to you as well. I know the TEAS this time around was way harder! I havent even started and Im already ready to get it over with lol. Im glad Im within two years of graduating so I at least get to skip the remeidiation course but still its going to be a rough year ?

The dde28 was suppose to me an image btw

Thank you! I just ordered a study guide for the TEAS as I am determined to do even better this time around :-) I had an 80 last time.. I aim to go back within the 2 years for the same reason! Hopefully it will be a little easier since you are already a nurse and have some background/experience. I'm sure the year will fly by and you will be a RN before you know it :)

You said you didnt get in with a TEAS of 80? How many points did you have if you dont mind me asking? I only had a 79 on my TEAS and I got in and my friend only got a 71 and got in as well. We both had all A's in our classes though.
