No. I love my job! Absolutely love it. What I am slightly worried about is the fact that I don't like working LTC or MedSurg. I feel it may be difficult to teach nurses how to do something that I don't have much experience in or enjoy doing. But I do love the education side of it and the content of the curriculum.

Have been a nurse for three years. The majority of it was in LTC but now I work in community health. I absolutely love my current job but it is not very nursey nursey. It is a lot of patient education, my clients are not sick, and there aren't any invasive procedures. I'm not really taking care of them, just educating them. It is not what you would think of as a nursing career. I absolutely hated LTC. I was miserable. I am going to school for my MSN in Education and will be finished in March. I am overly concerned that I actually may not like being a nurse in a regular setting. Any thoughts? I don't want to be a bad educator because I don't like to be a staff nurse. Is this normal? Am I in the wrong profession?

I was the same way! 2 years of ltc, Med/surg... i t was not for me. I took a pay cut to go to community health but wouldn't change it for the world. No holidays, nocs, or weekends:) day shift to be home with my kids in the evening. I'm also almost finished with my MSN in education. So there are other avenues...

I also completed my BSN at WGU in May and started my MSN in Nursing Education in August. I absolutely love this school. It makes it completely doable for busy parents and those who work. My husband recently started school in a more traditional style and it reminded me how much better WGU works:) It's GREAT.

Right now I am working on my MSN in nursing education. I was banking on being able to find a position I like in teaching when I am finished. However, after looking around I'm concerned that all I will be able to do is teach clinical which is not exactly what I had in mind. Is this assumption wrong? I would love to get my PhD but I need a break from school. Any advice would be appreciated :)
