RN to MSN Online Programs?
Hello RN2B, I am currently in an online RN-MSN program in Leadership through Western Governors university. There prices are comparable and up until the Capstone-graduate portion I wizzes through the courses and finished my BSN in 11 months. The MSN should only have taken an additional 12 months but have had problems with the capstone (research) portion and have had several revisions that were unnecessary r/t an evaluator who does not know what she is doing. I see on social media sites that many others have had the same problem. look online at reviews from actual students before choosing an online MSN program. I found lots of information after I signed on that would have made a difference in which school I chose. Good luck and congrats! Lisa

IRB approval help
Has anyone posted there IRB approval for MSN on-line on this site? My mentor at WGU has suggested that I start here as my employer has required additional revisions of my IRB for their facility which will go back to the board in January and I need to graduate in December. My research proposal involves Labor nurses, FNP's and midwives who care for pregnant teens. I want to survey care providers to determine the amount of education that is provided during prenatal care on chlamydia infection during labor and the co morbidity in the newborn. I also need to submit a Research proposal and receive IRB approval through this site. Has any one done this? Can you help/point me in the right direction to get started? Thank you Lisa

Do you scrub and/or circulate c-sections?
I work at a level 2 L&D in a small hospital that delivers about 250-300 a month, we also prep, circulate and recover our own c/s. Its a little scary when you first enter the OR with all the tasks that need to be done but you can do it, its pretty simple once the pt is prepped and on the table. Try asking your current hospital to allow you to shadow an OR nurse for a day. Good luck

Hardships/horror stories?
It looks like you are a "normal" person and have had some set backs. don't give up, if you want to be a nurse keep your chin up and keep charging ahead. I have had many setbacks on the road to becoming a RN, the same week I got my acceptance letter I also found out I was pregnant for the first time. My husband was happy but also scared for me because I was so mad, we had not planned on having children for several years and I knew I could not finish because my due date was right in the middle of the semester. I finished my first semester and was preparing for the baby and then reentry the next semester when my husband got a job offer out of town that we could not turn down. So I only had 1 semester under my belt and was assured by my counselor that I could transfer to the new town and continue nursing school, WRONG! The new school would not accept transfers with only 1 semester so I had to start over again after a 2 year waiting list. but I finally made it in, had good grades and was doing well until the final, I could not think of anything but passing the exam but could not remember anything. I sat outside the classroom with classmates around giving encouragement but felt sure I would flunk out and be embarrassed as all my friends went on to there chosen fields I would be back in school. the grader came out with the list of grades and I waited until everyone else had checked theirs and were celebrating their A grades, I slowly moved to the board and looked for my name, to my surprise and relief I had scored a B and almost fainted with relief! I was finally out of nursing school, five years later and am now pursuing my MSN on-line and loving every minute of being a labor and delivery nurse. YOU CAN DO IT
