Ivy Tech--INDIANA

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

hey everyone! I am pretty new to using this website..well besides reading posts. I just graduated in December as a LPN and am wanting to get my RN (ASAP). I have researched some schools.. BallState for the LPN-BSN would take me 3-4 years--even with all my credits I already have! not to mention the lady i met with was so rude to me! :yuck: TCN is absolutely not a choice for me. I have looked into Excelsior, but being a brand new nurse without hospital experience (I work in a nursing home) I am not too sure about that with only 3 clinical days at the end. I've also looked into Harrison College in Indy (since they ARE accredited now)..but have not heard back from them, so not sure how long it takes etc. I read online that MedTech in Fort Wayne IS accredited for the RN program now..but I am still iffy about that too. takes 2.5 years for the BSN and I don't want to take that long..I have about 98 college credits already.

Ivy Tech did not accept me for the LPN-ASN program in my region :o

From what I have heard they did not accept as many people due to losing teachers.. My number one choice would be to go back to Ivy tech because it is cheaper.

**Can anyone in Indiana tell me if their region offers the LPN-ASN transition in January 2014?! I think I missed the application deadline for fall 2013. I really do not want to wait until May 2014 to start the RN program...I wouldn't be a RN until May 2015 then :crying2:

Any replies and/or advice would be greatly appreciated! I would love to hear your experiences with any of these colleges/programs. Thanks!!

You said you didnt get in with a TEAS of 80? How many points did you have if you dont mind me asking? I only had a 79 on my TEAS and I got in and my friend only got a 71 and got in as well. We both had all A's in our classes though.

yeah, I was hoping my TEAS would help my score because I had a C in Anatomy 2, a B in psych and As in English and Anatomy 1. I was signed up to retake anatomy 2 for January '12 but got an offer for the LPN program and of course took it! I only applied to one region because one of my teachers said everyone that applies to the transition almost always gets in--so I didn't worry! obviously she was wrong -.-

Wow what a bummer. You seriously had to have barely missed it =(

I know! that's what I was thinking :-( maybe a spot will open up somewhere, like it did for the LPN program... *fingers crossed*

If your TEAS is that good I wouldn't worry about retaking that. An 80 is great honestly. I would jut retake anatomy 2 and psych since you will have a year for your region. If you get an A in either one of those you should have no problem getting in. Just as long as that is only you second attempt because I think your only allowed two attempts maybe three but Im not too sure.

my TEAS expired in March :( I made the cut off to apply but since I didn't get in, I'll have to retake it. but I will definitely retake anatomy and get an A and I will more than likely retake psych as well! Thanks :) wish we were in class together..lol but good luck & you'll have to let me know how you like it/how hard it is!

Im actually attending the Marion campus this time around. A lot closer to home. I had to drive an hour and 15 min to the Muncie campus for my LPN first time around so Im pretty stoked about that. Ill let you know how it goes. I actually have orientation Friday. Im dreading school really. I hated it first time around and somethings telling me it probably wont be too much different now. Luckily I generally do alright in school its just a drag is all. Nursing school sure does know how to wear us thin!

that's good it's a lot closer for you! I live right off 69 in Muncie so Marion isn't too far from me. I agree- I wish we didn't have to go back to school..it sure is a drag! LPN school took a lot out of me, it was a year of non stop studying. Good luck in orientation & can't wait to hear from you :)

Thank you! I have looked, but not all say if it's the transition or not, it just says the deadline. I am in Muncie and wouldn't mind to travel an hour or 2. :) I know I will be applying to Lawrence and Richmond and if I know of any others I will apply there too! thanks for the reply! :-D

They do tell you deadlines and what campuses if you click on the actual slide shows. I think it is the nursing info session or application info above all the campuses. I applied at the Lawrence campus for the medic/rn program and RT program. Along with the bloomington and Terre Haute campus for RT programs. Lawrence is the only one doing the medic/rn this year. I am about 45 miles south of Indy in a really small town. Ill try to look up the info for you!

It looks like Lawrence has the same deadline as muncie which is feb 1st for may start...I dont know how far Lafayette is from you but it looks like their deadline was april first, I have no clue where.Munice is can ya tell?! Haha. I know it is kinda up north somwhere?! I do see where u are coming from..SOME campuses do not have on there when app deadlines are and what programs they offer. Most directors will respond to an email fairly quickly though! My mom did her LPN at Ivy Tech in Bloomington and then transitioned into RN. Of course now shes been working for a while now...Good Luck on whatever you choose! Remember everything happens for a reason :)

Thank you for looking up the info!! Haha I think Lafayette is pretty far from me...I may have to wait until next May to start in my region, since I missed the April deadline :( Good luck to you! I hope you get in :) I love that quote too! it's my absolute favorite :)

Mine too! It has. Applied to my life quite well lately :) Thanks!

Well I just had my orientation today. Even though Im only taking 4 credit hours this summer it seems like I can kiss my summer goodbye. I did get to skip two classes though so thats good. I just hope all goes well. I am going to have to cut way back on my hours at work which really sucks. I am full time now and will probably have to go to about two days a week. Im glad Ive been saving up money but Im also in the process of buying a house too so we will see how that plays out! Im pretty nervous really so I guess Ill just have to wait and see.
