Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....
Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?
I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.
And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!
I got my letter from Valpo today and unfortunately my 202 wasn't enough to get in. I applied to both, however I only recieved one letter. I am sure LPN letters will follow soon. I now have to play the waiting game again (Gary).
Dang im suprised you didnt get in with a 202. My mail wont be here for at least another hour and a half.
well, if your 202 wasn't good enough then my 203 probably wasn't either. seriously i wish there wasn't a point system. getting a's and a fantastic teas score does not mean you are going to be an awesome nurse!! i understand why they do it but i think they should incorporate something else into it!!
i agree i am not sure why they base it on those two things alone....i have a gpa of 3.85 and am in the honor society and i think that should account for something.....what do those 4 grades and teas score tell anyone? i mean at least with a 3.85 and honor society after taking all co recs that says i have busted my butt and worked hard! how many of those people that have gotten in based on 4 grades and their teas score, which has nothing to do with nursing, end up dropping out or flunking out??

i totally agree with you!!! i am in the same boat....every single class done and then some from my previous major... i have gotten 1 b in my whole college career and busted my butt to get where i am. 4 a's in all pre-reqs for nursing a 80 on my teas which has absolutely no showing except for being able to remember things from 4th grade or at least good guessing skills. i am so sick to my stomach that a 203 probably wasn't good enough to get in. oh well, at least we all probably got into pn and at least i still have my resp. app in at gary. i am now praying for that one to be a congrats!!!! i just don't understand why they don't have a pre-nursing class to take to give points. i know that the physical therapy assistant program does that!!!

i am gonna keep my fingers crossed for us both in hopes of getting into the pn program, which i am feeling confident, aside of feeling sick that they are taking their time getting the letters out. when i call them later, i will ask if they have sent out the pn letters yet or when they are planning to go out....hopefully right behind the rn. i also have a plan b but i would really like not to have to resort to it.

let's hope! i am sure that we are safe for pn which is just fine for me, i heard the transition is quite easier to get into. i am also awaiting a letter for the respiratory program from gary, but i still have a few weeks before that one gets here. i am very confident with that program since they do not nearly get as many applicants as nursing ( usually between 40-80 applicants a year). they do points out of 6 classes ( math118, ap1 and 2, microbio, chem, eng) plus teas but you don't have to get a certain percentage on each part, your whole score is just accepted. but they don't accept very many people at all. i would love to be a nurse, but i would also love to get into respiratory, so either way with pn or rt i will be happy. i am still awaiting the mailman but i think if a 202 didn't make the cut, a 203 didn't either. oh, well i know how hard i tried!!!
btw, what is the plan b?

plan b for me is that i will retake the teas in the fall (since all my other classes will be finished i can focus on the teas exam only) and apply again in august for the start of the pn program in january. i am glad to hear you have applied to the rt program as well. i have two very good friends who applied to that program in lafayette and they both made it and they are both happy as they also applied to nursing but they also had something else to fall back on. i, am not interested in the rt program at all but i hear its a good program...the very best of luck to you and hopefully we will see each other in the pn program this fall : )
just got ahold of someone at the anderson campus. letters are going out today! so we should be seeing them in our mailboxes tomorrow or friday. it sure would be nice to get an acceptance letter tomorrow. my husband is having surgery and a good letter from the school would certainly be the highlight of the day.
i find this very exciting. i'm ready to hear something. i've been trying to remain calm but i find myself stressing out everyday when i go out to the mailbox.
columbus only. so, the wait is killing me. only one chance to get in! i applied with a 204. hoping its good enough! what was your score if you dont mind sharing?
i have a 199 in anderson, columbus, and lafayette. i got into the lafayette lpn but that is my backup campus in case i don't get in anywhere else. its the furthest from my house but my mom lives in zionsville, so if i don't get in at a closer campus, then i'll be staying in the guest room a couple nights a week.
i see it this way: you gotta do what you gotta do, to do what you wanna do.
maybe we'll be seeing each other in columbus though...lol. the secretary in the columbus nursing office told me that in the fall the cutoff for lpn is usually in the 170's or 180's. so i would think the cutoff for rn is possibly in the mid to high 190's.

what time does your mail come? mine is usually right at 2pm...not sure if my husband will be able to come home from the hospital that early though. thankfully we literally live behind the hospital, so i may have to slip out of there for a few minutes and check the mail...lol
