Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello all prospective nurses,

If anyone has questions about IUON or living on the island, send me a message and I could help you with life on the island, the good restaurants, transportation and the course work. I graduated from IUON and attended an affiliated school in Kentucky. I took my boards in September and I currently work in the ICU in a new grad program. Just leave me a message if you guys have any questions.

hey rach11 how much is the expense you need for one semester for school is 6000 what about food and rent give a hint pls

Well I'm not quite sure how much food is..but rent varies. I saw some 3bedrooms for like 750 bu also saw a 1bedroom for 750. You can look on IUON.com and they have a calculator of how much they suspect each year would cost with everything included. I think it's under the page about the loan information.

I am accepted to IOUN....for May 2009

Hey j13 please tell me ur experence @IUON and how long you went to Kentcky college I am going for may 2009

Congratulations....what are you thinking about for your housing situation? I want to find roommates I think...what about you?

Hey rach thanks. I want room mate too it would be nice if we can change email address so

we can talk about our study...

I don't know about the rest of you, but this thread was started by someone who "claims" to have gone IUON and says they finished up school in KY, but doesn't say where.

They also state that they would be willing to answer questions about IUON if you leave them a message, many messages have been left and absolutley no reply from them, what's up with that??

I lived in the Bahamas for 15 years and can tell you one thing, Island living is pretty damn expensive, no matter which Chain of Islands you chose...why?? because EVERYTHING has to be imported from elsewhere and the Duties (tax) are very steep a few examples, Want to bring your $2000 stereo you have? In order for you to bring it in you have to pay the duty on the new value of it irregardless that you are just bringing it when you are a student and will bring it back home to you, Customs may decide to waive the duty but you may have to post a Bond equal to the value of the stereo system so that you really do leave the Island with and not sell it to a local. Bond is refunded upon departure or soon thereafter (maybe).

Food is imported via ship mostly out of Miami or Puerto rico, freight costs are high, the importer has to pay freight, hire a customs broker to facillitate the paperwork to post the bond for Customs, pay the duty not only on the food but the shipping too. That 1.09 can of peas you see in your local supermarket is probably close to $2.50 2.75 in an Island store.

The only thing cheap is Rum!! and since you can't afford much else, you won't care....:smokin:

Don't forget about Hurricanes...although I would rather be in a Hurricane, than an Earthquake, Mudslide or an Avalanche...because at least you know in advance it's coming and I have been through 7 of them.

Sorry to put a damper on this but.....

Mark

Hey I sent you a visitors message on your page with my email address...email me when you get it.

Rach11,

Who me??

Mark

No sorry that was to ginalina.....

I graduated from IUON and I DO NOT recommend it at all. It is not worth the money or the hardships you will have to go through. Stay on US soil for your degree. Robert Ross is out for your money- it's not a good quality school. The webpage looks good but it's a different story when you arrive there.

To G Unit Nurse

I read your comment on IUON please tell me your experince? Did you go for ADN or BSN what is bad at all

the school, or just St. Kitts I want to know what the hardship is ?

Thanks
