ITT Tech?

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Have any of you looked into their ADN program? It is new in Michigan this year; however, Indiana just had their first graduates, or are getting close to graduation.

I took the HESI at ITT Tech in July. I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear something. If all goes well, I plan to start in September. :yeah:

One drawback is the cost. Another is that nothing you take here will transfer. That's something to condider if you are young and may eventually go on to obtain your BSN. Me? I'm in my 40's now. No chance of getting my BSN.

Please post if you know anything about this school, or if you were one of the many who took the HESI here. No waiting list. Score high enough on the HESI and you're in. The caveat is that they are only taking 30 students to start. I plan to be one from the initial class. We should hear something this week.

I believe ITT will get accredited, and I think I will do well at there school. I feel like if I can prove myself when I am doing clinical's I will be able to get a job. It does make me nervous that some have said they have a bad reputation but supposedly so did the school I went for MA and I work and have had other job offers. So I guess good luck to whatever you choose!

Every school had to start somewhere

This is a very interesting thread. I just received information about the program and while I am still not certain I will go ahead and try to enter the program it really is the best option for me. I won't have to decide until next spring. I'm in my mid 40's and have to work full time to support myself. Doing that is almost impossible going to a regular college. I think my boss will let me work around the schedule ITT has for their classes and I won't get in 40 hours but I should be able to get in 30 and hope to pick up some kind of hospital job once I get started in a program.

I was told by a nurse that runs her own home care business that the most important thing is passing the test to become an RN. I hope I see her again and talk to her about this program.

I think the first couple of graduating classes will have the hardest time getting jobs. Though if they have contracts with hospitals like St. Johns, DMC and Henry Ford they must be doing something right and that will make it easier for people to get jobs and give the school a better name.

As far as the bad reviews go I always take those with a grain of salt. More people are likely to give a review when they have a bad experience than a good one.

I've wanted to become a nurse for a long time but the school schedule always held me back. I finally decided to go ahead and start the pre-req's which was not easy because the classes fill up so fast. Hopefully this program will be what I need to finally become a nurse.

Good luck to everyone!:)

@Wen902, Thanks a bunch, I have a friend that's in the program here in Michigan and she loves it.

I didn't know that ITT had a waiting list to take the HESI, a friend of mine have to retake the test.

I need to let her know to call and get on the list.Taking classes at another school is a good idea, they can transfer

over and the price will drop down. I saved about $12,000, due to my classes transferring over. :yeah:

@Kmay29, Yes I start in March, I'm so excited to start this program, may be

we will be in the same class...lol...

@CheCheMartin, Congrads to you, I wish I could have started in September, but I had to make

sure my job was intact...lol...I'm pretty sure you will be just fine, like the rest of us. Do you currently

work in the hospital, clinical office, nursing home etc.?:)

I just want to encourage you to pursue your dreams. I was in another accredited nursing program and literally almost committed suicide. The instructors were so suspicious and hateful. ITT was a gift from God! I just finished last week and feel like the teachers have my back and are my friends. Our chair would fire any teachers if they treated us the way the other school did. ITT has been a positive atmosphere for me. p.s. I'm older than you are :lol2:

Hi all, I am in the second class of the nursing program at ITT Tech in Lake Mary, FL. I choose ITT because I am an older student and did not have the 3 years to wait to get into a CC nursing program. I am not going to lie and say there have not been challenges as it being a new program, but the school has taken then students concerns and made the necessary changes. All for the best. Our instructors are amazing, and I think it being a private college they have the money to pay to get excellent instructors. The other benefits is that I now it is expensive, but all your books are included, if you have had to purchase your own college books, they are not cheap. I did the math for the first semester only and the book alone would have cost 3500 out of my pocket, but since they are included in you cost, it is a great thing. The college is great in assisting you in getting loans and grants too. Our program is a hybrid with most students only having to go two days a week, so you can still work, unlike community colleges where they are 4 to 5 days a week. If you have general education classes to do, they are done along with the programs, this can make for a tough semester, but if I can do it at 40 something anyone can. They other thing I like about the programs there is no learning skills as you do clinicals, you have to know them all before you hit the hospital floors. We have students at my hospital ( I am currently a CNA) and they do don't seem to know as many skills as I do already. So far I am loving my programs, especially after the last semester with the instructor change, Love them all now. Good luck, I hope you like it as much as I do. :redpinkhe:yeah:

@Bevtag, Thank you, that's the plan; for me to pursue my dreams, after waiting 2.5 years to get into

a Nursing program, ITT Nursing program was not difficult for me to accept. Can't wait to start.:yeah: P.S.

I don't think your that much older than me...lol:lol2:

Hey, This is for Katy-Nursing Student (since I can't figure out how to respond to your message :clown: ) ITT is now taking new students. Last I heard (a week ago), people can still be accepted for the September class, but you'd probably be better off to wait until December, 2011 because you'll be crazy busy trying to catch up. Call 405-810-4100 and ask.
