ITT tech RN?

So, I almost went for an interview for this program and then I started hearing dreadful things about it. More than a couple people have complained about the clinical for peds being absolutely ridiculous. They went to a daycare center for 10 hours and watched kids throw mud at eachother!!!!!! Is this really happening? I surely wouldn't think any proper hospital would hire grads from this school but maybe I'm wrong??

To Miiki:

The BSN programs I have looked at also have MSN programs so this wouldn't be a problem. Also, I have been told that if you have your BSN, schools (as well as states ) look at the last degree and school attended and obtained. For example: If I become a nurse and went to AB college which wasn't NLNAC accredited and received my ADN then I went to AMC college which is NLNAC accredited and obtained my BSN the XYZ college for my Masters is going to look at my BSN degree...

Again what good is a school that has NLNAC accreditation but no one will accept the credits anyway?

That's great that your program will accept it. There are so many stories of grads who have had that problem especially moving to a different state, so it's worth additional research when considering these kind of schools.

I'm not for colleges that aren't regionally accredited either. I go to a private school, but it is regionally accredited so its credits transfer, NLN accredited, and not-for-profit. (A way former diploma program)

Wow! That's terrible. Most schools in my state are 85% and up. There is one school that is at 67% and is currently facing discipline.

Most of our schools are doing rest. It's the for profit schools that all have terribly low percentages. And they are facing disciplinary action.

The ones that are low are the for profit schools and they are under disciplinary action. All the other schools are like the ones in your state, 85% or higher.

Wow. I had to go look before I posted this, but there are no for-profit, diploma mill type RN schools in my state.

All associate degree schools are public. There is one diploma program attached to a hospital(The one I work at :-)). There are a few private bachelor programs, most are public. There may be a for-profit school among this category, but all of the colleges are regionally accredited schools who's degrees and credits will transfer.

It seems like my state is stringent on the nursing programs it allows to operate. Like I said earlier all schools are 85% or higher except for one.

Wow. I've heard bad things about them but if those claims are true, that's REALLY bad especially considering the amount of money people are paying them! I think it's called the Breckinridge School of Nursing. A bunch of our ER techs got into their program here in Rancho Cordova, CA (near Sacramento). In CA, they are on the BRN website as being accredited but I think they're too new to have pass rates up. I'm curious to see how they score.

I know some people say to get just through nursing school, it doesn't matter where you go, however, I think in this case, it does matter since it sounds like they're not really preparing you as much they should be. Nursing school teaches you just the tip of the iceberg, so to say, but if you're not even getting that, how on earth are you prepared, fundamentally speaking?

Good day:

See https://www.ncsbn.org/1237.htm for the NCLEX pass rates for different years.

In 2012, first time takers in the U.S. for the RN after an associate degree had a 89.32% pass rate.

Thank you.

Already tried....my GPA is too low. I live in Tampa/St. Pete I only have three choices for Colleges all require a 3.8-I have about 3.2 almost 3.3..too old to spend years retaking pre-requ.

If you dont mind the drive, Polk State is a great school, and you can get in with that GPA. They have a BSN program also. I'm going to pay about $15k for my BSN at Polk, and it has a very good reputation with our area hospitals, unlike ITT. Several students from hillsborough are in my class. :)

You can always "challenge" your prereqs through the CLEP or excelsior. I "challenged" my A&P and Mirco and got an A (it counted for 2 As) and a B. Got accepted in the program...graduated last May, passed boards in June, started new grad job this week. They have other classes as well you can boost your grades in. Find out what colleges accept "challenged" coursework. It is worth a try!-and it's cheaper, most of the time. :)

you have two days at a daycare center and two days at a doctors office. then four days at a ob hospital. it was not bad it was fun. I have two hours of studying time the kids were asleep it was a good day.

really i am a grad from Itt tech and work in a hospital and so do most of my friends. two of my friends work a tampa general hospital.

Hospitals know these things, and no, no reputable hospital would hire a grad from an unaccredited school with a poor reputation. Skip it, for sure. It's not worth the money, I promise.

really i work in a hospital and i went to Itt tech. most of my friends work at Kindred and two of my friends work at tampa general .
