I start my lpn program Sept. 1. I'm nervous:uhoh21:, but am looking forward to it.
The program is M-F 8am - 1pm. Sept. 1, 2004-Aug 12, 2005. So technically 11 months. The school says it's 10 months with holidays and all. Not bad, but very intense. Thank you all for your kind words.

I graduated from the rpn course in 1973 can you believe it?
We had good teachers and good hands on c the patients from the get-go.
yes the course is intense over a 9 month period, but I tell you it's what you
learn as a grad on a ward that makes you a good Nurse. If you have thought
about it thoroughly and everything comes up "yes" then go for it.
Remember that the teachers are there to teach not confuse you,and most
are willing to talk to you one on one c an appointment--take advantage of it
A & P are the most important things to study before you even start the
course.Above all don't be afraid thousands have passed this course. What
makes you think that you will be the exeption? "Just do it"---

Yup, it runs from September 8, 2004 to June 17, 2005. There are hardly any breaks! I do get IV certified & it runs M-F 8:30-4 and clinicals are from 7:00-3:00. The program also has an excellent reputation, which means a lot to me. The graduates get nice jobs around here-and since it is a very small area, that is important also.wow, i had no idea that they had 9 month LPN classes, I thought i was lucky with my 13 month one. Most out here run 18-21 months. Do guys also get IV certified. I know this is part of i course too:)
I am so excited and have been trying to prepare by going over some A&P and med. term. I want to be a little bit ahead b/c if you get less than a "B" you are out, no questions, no exceptions...& don't let the door hit you on the way out. I know it is do-able(is that a word) because they only lose a handful (3-4 out of around 30) of people each year.
I am so excited for all of us and I look forward to swapping stories!!!!

Thanks! I don't know what IV certified even really means (i.e. what it entails for a LPN, that is just what the admissions person told me in the interview.
Thanks again!

The IV certification is not a post graduate course at my chool, from what i understand it part of of course, and here in louisiana our scope of practice is broad, u can do about anything u are trained to do:) from inserting iv in vien etc;)

So you get it too? That is cool! I guess I didn't understand what NRSDUG was saying to me! Oops!
Well anyways-good luck to us all!
Hi, I will be starting class on Aug. 23 and orientation on Aug. 19. I was recently excepted back for readmission from this past semester. Myself and another classmate missed it by 1 point out of 80%. I now what I need to do in order to get through this time. I'm just hoping and praying that it all works out. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated:) .

You're in my prayers and I know you can do it! It is very admirable that you didn't quit & you should be very proud of yourself!
I would also love to hear any advice that you have to get that 80 b/c my program requires it also and it is making me so nervous!
Again, congratulations and good luck!
Thanks for the kind words:) . While studying Fundamentals in Nursing, we have a workbook. In the beginning of my studies I was able to read the text, notes from class, and do the workbook. I did very well for about a month. After that, some way down the road I sat aside my workbook and lost contact of reading all the information that was not discussed in class. From talking to my instructors it was said several times to read everything even if I have to read it more than once and not to over study. When I started this past Jan. we had 40 people. At the time I stopped, it was 2 of us and at the end of that semester 5 more did not finish. My class just finished the summer semester and I think there were 3 that didn't make it(2 are readmits). Yes it is hard work.
if you would like to personnally email you can do so at [email protected]. Hope this information helps:) . I will also keep you in my prayers .
